Five years after introducing the Chronomaster Sport, Zenith expands one of its most successful modern collections beyond the chronograph with the new Chronomaster Solo Sport. The four-model series translates the familiar sports-watch architecture into a simpler three-hand format, pairing a slightly smaller 40mm steel case with ceramic dials, luminous 60-minute bezels and the new Zenclasp bracelet system. More importantly, Zenith retains a mechanical connection to the chronograph that inspired it: inside is the high-frequency El Primero 3620, a 5Hz automatic movement derived from the El Primero 3600 used in the Chronomaster Sport.
The Zenith Chronomaster Solo Sport is housed in a 40mm 316L stainless-steel case measuring 13.1mm thick, reducing the diameter by 1mm compared with the Chronomaster Sport chronograph. Polished and brushed surfaces provide contrast across the sporty case architecture, while each model is fitted with a glossy ceramic unidirectional rotating bezel carrying a 60-minute diving scale. Black ceramic bezels accompany the black and white versions, while the brown model receives a matching brown ceramic bezel.
The stainless-steel caseback is secured by four screws and incorporates a sapphire crystal display window revealing the El Primero 3620. Through it, the movement’s architecture and skeletonized oscillating weight can be viewed, with the rotor incorporating Zenith’s signature star emblem.
The screw-down crown sits between protective crown guards on the right side of the case, contributing to the considerably more robust construction of the Solo Sport. A sapphire crystal protects the dial, while the ceramic bezel’s 60-minute scale is designed to remain visible in low-light conditions. Water-resistance can reach up to 200 meters (656 feet).
Zenith offers the Chronomaster Solo Sport with white, black or brown ceramic dials, all distinguished by a high-frequency geometric pattern constructed around a repeating 45-degree “Z” motif. Three versions feature hours, minutes, seconds and a date aperture at 3 o’clock,
while the fourth adopts an even cleaner time-only configuration without the date. A shark-tooth minute track surrounding the display draws inspiration from historic Zenith watches such as the A3817.
The two black dials and the brown dial receive polished finishes, while the white execution uses a sunray treatment. Applied hour markers complement the patterned ceramic surfaces, with rhodium-plated hands and markers appearing on the black and white models.
The brown version instead uses rose gold-colored hands and indices, creating a warmer contrast against its matching brown dial and bezel. Zenith further distinguishes the two otherwise similar black versions through their dial text: the date model displays “36’600 VpH” in red, while the time-only version uses white lettering.
Super-LumiNova fills the applied hour markers and hands for nighttime visibility, while luminous material is also incorporated into the 60-minute scale on the ceramic bezel. The combination of luminous indications, the textured “Z” dial motif and the vintage-inspired shark-tooth track gives the Solo Sport its own identity while retaining recognizable elements of the wider Chronomaster family.
Zenith Chronomaster Solo Sport
The “Zenith Chronomaster Solo Sport” (References below) is powered by the in-house self-winding mechanical movement, El Primero caliber 3620 with 27 jewels and a frequency of 36,000 vph, or 5Hz. Derived from the El Primero 3600 chronograph caliber used by the Chronomaster Sport, the 3620 comes equipped with hacking seconds and a silicon escapement, with the date function featured on three of the four references. Its skeletonized oscillating weight incorporates the Zenith star and remains visible through the sapphire crystal caseback. Power reserve can last up to 60 hours, when fully wound.
Mounted on these watches are three-row stainless-steel bracelets combining brushed and polished finishes.
Each is equipped with Zenith’s new folding Zenclasp, which incorporates an integrated safety-lock system and a tool-free micro-adjustment mechanism providing a total 10mm adjustment range in 2.5mm increments, allowing the bracelet fit to be altered directly on the wrist.
