Founded in Le Locle, Switzerland in 1846. Ulysse Nardin was known for its production of the marine chronometers, but as of today, it is recognized for its complicated mechanical timepieces. The founder of this watch company was Ulysse Nardin who studied the art of watchmaking under his father and many other accomplished watchmakers including Frederic William Dubois, and Louis Jean Richard-dit-Bressel. Ulysse Nardin is well known for its Trilogy of Time which consists of three timepieces (Planetarium Copernicus, Astrolabium Galileo Galiliei, and Tellurium Johannes Kelper).
