Chopard
Chopard is a Swiss based luxury watch brand founded by Louis-Ulysse Chopard, 24 years old, in 1860. Chopard is known as a manufacture because they produce most of their watches and movements in house instead of using the base movements of other manufacturers. In 1920 Chopard moved to Geneva and began the production of quality watches. In 1976 the Happy Diamonds collection was introduced and this is one of Chopard’s signature styles of watch making. This signature style featured mobile diamonds that floated freely between two transparent sapphire crystals. Chopard began a partnership with the Mille Miglia, an annual Italian assembly where classic and vintage automobiles participated. Chopard named the collection after the Mille Miglia and manufactured a timepiece for that series every year after that to display the partnership between the two. One of Chopard’s best-selling collections was the Happy Sport collection, which has both a classy and trendy look. The Happy Sport collection included unique timepieces such as the Happy Beach, Happy Snowflakes, the Happy Hearts and the Happy Fish models. Chopard’s first boutiques were opened in Geneva, Vienna, and Hong Kong. Since then, Mr. Scheufele is the president of Chopard and he has turned it into a family business where his son, Karl-Friedrich, is in charge of the watch making department and his daughter, Caroline, is in charge of the jewelry department.
