Oris continues its commitment to marine conservation with the new Aquis Date Kelp Forest Limited Edition, a special release highlighting the importance of protecting threatened underwater ecosystems. Created in collaboration with award-winning underwater photographer and longtime Oris ambassador Francis Pérez, the watch draws inspiration from kelp forests, vital marine habitats that support biodiversity and help absorb carbon. Featuring a distinctive ocean-green dial with a three-dimensional texture inspired by underwater vegetation, the new Aquis Date Kelp Forest (Ref. 733 7787 4187-Set) combines the collection’s robust diving specifications with an environmental message. The watch is limited to 1,000 pieces worldwide.
The Oris Aquis Date Kelp Forest Limited Edition is housed in a stainless-steel case measuring 41.5mm in diameter, 12.9mm thick and 49mm from lug to lug. Based on the updated Aquis Date introduced in 2024, the case features revised proportions, more ergonomic lugs and a combination of brushed and polished surfaces. Its unidirectional rotating bezel incorporates a green ceramic insert with a graduated minute scale, complementing the ocean-inspired dial while maintaining the functionality expected of a professional diving watch.

A screwed stainless-steel caseback features a special kelp engraving commemorating the environmental theme of this limited edition. The engraved design reinforces the collaboration’s focus on the preservation of kelp forests while maintaining the solid construction associated with the Aquis collection.

The screw-in security crown is positioned at 3 o’clock and protected by integrated crown guards, providing access to winding, time-setting and date adjustments. A domed sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating on its inner surface protects the dial, while the screw-down construction contributes to the watch’s suitability for underwater use. Water-resistance can reach up to 300 meters (984 feet).

The defining feature of the Aquis Date Kelp Forest Limited Edition is its ocean-green dial, decorated with a three-dimensional printed texture inspired by strands of kelp moving through underwater currents.

Variations of green and gold tones create an organic surface that changes appearance depending on the angle of light, reflecting the movement and colors of submerged kelp forests.

Applied hour markers and central hour and minute hands feature gold-colored outlines, providing a warm contrast against the green dial. The familiar Aquis Date layout is retained, with a central running seconds hand and a date aperture positioned at 6 o’clock. The restrained arrangement allows the elaborate kelp-inspired texture to remain the focal point without compromising the watch’s practical time display.

Super-LumiNova is applied to the hour and minute hands, applied hour markers and the lollipop-shaped section of the central seconds hand, ensuring visibility in low-light conditions. The luminous indications stand out against the textured green background, while the interplay between the metallic outlines and the dial’s layered finish adds depth to the underwater-inspired design.

The “Oris Aquis Date Kelp Forest Limited Edition” (Ref. 733 7787 4187-Set) is powered by the self-winding mechanical movement, caliber 733, based on the Sellita SW200-1 architecture and operating at a frequency of 28,800 vph, or 4Hz. The automatic movement comes equipped with central hours, minutes and seconds, a date display positioned at 6 o’clock and a stop-seconds function for precise time setting. Power reserve can last up to 41 hours, when fully wound.

Mounted on this watch is a three-link stainless-steel bracelet featuring a combination of brushed and polished surfaces that complement the finishing of the Aquis case.

The bracelet is secured by a folding clasp equipped with a quick-adjustment system for improved comfort and a quick-change mechanism that allows the bracelet to be removed or exchanged conveniently.
