The Breguet Classique Tourbillon s returns in a darker guise for 2026, commemorating the 225th anniversary of Abraham-Louis Breguet’s tourbillon patent. Following the original Tourbillon Sidéral introduced for the manufacture’s 250th anniversary, this new platinum edition revisits the concept with a black aventurine enamel dial and cooler monochromatic palette, while retaining the flying tourbillon that marked an important first for the historic manufacture.
The Breguet Classique Tourbillon Sidéral (Ref#: 7255PT/2N/9VU) is housed in a compact 38mm platinum case measuring 10.2mm thick. Its restrained proportions follow the traditional Classique aesthetic, with a round polished profile complemented by Breguet’s characteristic finely fluted caseband and straight soldered lugs. The cool tone and substantial feel of platinum provide a fitting counterpart to the predominantly black and rhodium-finished composition of this edition.

Around the back, a sapphire crystal caseback provides an expansive view of caliber 187M1 and its distinctive full-plate architecture. The rhodium-plated gold movement is extensively decorated with “Quai de l’Horloge” guilloché produced using a hand-operated straight-line engine, alongside rose-engine barleycorn decoration and engraved inscriptions. Applied plaques surrounding the tourbillon carry additional freehand engraving, adding another layer of traditional handcraft to the movement.

The fluted crown maintains the classical character of the case and provides manual winding of the movement, while a sapphire crystal protects the dial and its large flying-tourbillon aperture. Despite the watch’s haute horlogerie construction and precious-metal case, it retains a degree of everyday protection. Water-resistance can reach up to 30 meters (98 feet).

The defining feature of this edition is its black aventurine grand feu enamel dial, replacing the dark blue treatment of the original Tourbillon Sidéral. Rather than using conventional aventurine glass cut from a larger sheet, Breguet individually fires the enamel to create the material’s characteristic appearance. Its glossy black surface carries subtle green undertones and suspended copper flecks that evoke a field of distant stars, giving meaning to the Sidéral name.

An off-center black-coated white gold chapter ring displays the hours and minutes, leaving the lower portion of the dial open to showcase the flying tourbillon. Traditional Breguet-style hands indicate the time, while applied 18k gold “Breguet” and italicized “Tourbillon” signatures flank the display. The asymmetrical arrangement traces its lineage to Breguet’s earlier wristwatch tourbillons while establishing a clear visual hierarchy between the time display and regulator.

The dial’s polished enamel surface creates considerable depth against the metallic flecks beneath, while the rhodium-plated gold frame surrounding the tourbillon aperture catches and redirects light toward the mechanism. The restrained black, white-metal and rhodium palette further emphasizes the finishing of the tourbillon cage and the apparent suspension of the regulator, without relying on luminous material that would disrupt the watch’s traditional aesthetic.

Breguet Classique Tourbillon Sidéral
The “Breguet Classique Tourbillon Sidéral” (Ref#: 7255PT/2N/9VU) is powered by the in-house manually wound mechanical movement, caliber 187M1, operating at 18,000 vph. It comes equipped with hours and minutes indications and a flying tourbillon regulator, featuring a Nivachron hairspring with a traditional Breguet overcoil and a sapphire crystal drive wheel that contributes to the tourbillon’s suspended appearance. Power reserve can last up to 50 hours, when fully wound.

Mounted on this watch is a black alligator leather strap, secured by a folding clasp. Its traditional texture complements the black aventurine enamel dial while allowing the cool tones of the platinum case and rhodium-plated movement details to remain prominent. Combined with the restrained 38mm diameter and 10.2mm thickness, the strap should give the Tourbillon Sidéral an elegant, compact presence on the wrist despite the mechanical spectacle at the center of its design.

The Breguet Classique Tourbillon Sidéral Ref. 7255PT/2N/9VU is limited to just 50 pieces and is available through Breguet boutiques and authorized retailers.
