Breitling celebrates one of Britain’s most iconic grand touring cars with the new Top Time B01 Chronograph 41 Tribute to Aston Martin DB5 collection. Offered in three limited editions, the watches combine the distinctive cushion-shaped Top Time case with details inspired by the legendary DB5, including a genuine wood inlay recalling the car’s classic interior. The connection also carries a touch of cinematic history, as both the Breitling Top Time and Aston Martin DB5 appeared alongside Sean Connery’s James Bond in the 1965 film Thunderball.

The Breitling Top Time B01 Chronograph 41 Tribute to Aston Martin DB5 features a distinctive cushion-shaped case measuring 41mm in diameter, 13.8mm thick, and 47.9mm lug-to-lug.

Three executions are available: stainless-steel, stainless-steel paired with a platinum bezel, and 18k 5N red gold. 

The larger proportions give the Top Time substantial wrist presence while preserving the flowing curves and vintage character associated with the collection.

Turning the watch over reveals a sapphire crystal exhibition caseback offering a view of the Breitling Manufacture Calibre 01. The steel version features a rhodium-plated oscillating weight,

while the more exclusive steel and platinum and red gold editions receive a gold rotor, adding another distinguishing detail to the movement presentation.

The crown is fitted with two gaskets and accompanied by classic mushroom-style chronograph pushers, reinforcing the vintage motorsport character of the Top Time. A fixed bezel carries a tachymeter scale for calculating speed over a known distance, while a sapphire crystal protects the dial and its distinctive wood inlay. Water-resistance can reach up to 100 meters (330 feet).

Each of the three editions offers a distinct interpretation of the DB5 theme. The stainless-steel model features a silver sunray-brushed dial contrasted by black chronograph counters,

while the steel and platinum edition adopts a more restrained black lacquered dial.

At the top of the collection, the 18k red gold model introduces a hand-cut black onyx dial, marking the first use of the material for a dial by Breitling.

Surrounding each dial is a genuine wood inlay rehaut inspired by the wooden steering wheel and interior trim of the original Aston Martin DB5. The unusual material adds warmth to the otherwise sporting chronograph design and provides a direct visual connection between the watch and the celebrated British grand tourer.

The bi-compax arrangement places the 30-minute chronograph counter and running seconds display horizontally across the dial, maintaining a balanced and uncluttered appearance without a date window. Applied indexes and hands provide additional dimensionality, while Super-LumiNova ensures improved visibility in low-light conditions.

This COSC-certified automatic chronograph operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4Hz) and incorporates an integrated chronograph architecture with a column wheel and vertical clutch. Power reserve can last up to 70 hours when fully wound.
Mounted on each watch is a brown calfskin leather strap with a contrasting beige underside, complementing the warm tones of the wood inlay and reinforcing the collection’s classic grand touring character. The steel and steel and platinum editions are secured by a folding clasp, while the red gold model is paired with a matching 18k red gold folding clasp.
