Bell & Ross 03-92 HUD
Time to take flight with Bell & Ross, once again via an aviation inspired timepiece. Outside of the current online trade fair, other brands have also been returning to market with new releases. Among them we find this “Bell & Ross 03-92 HUD”, which showcases a “busier” dial than usual, which almost manages to rival all the glow put off by the recent “Officine Panerai PAM 1118”. Let’s get on board and navigate thru this new pilot watch.
The 42mm case is made of matt black ceramic and shaped in the iconic Bell & Ross circle on a square with exposed screws. The solid screwed-on case back has been engraved with technical information and the unique number for each of these limited edition pieces.
It comes equipped with a setting-crown that has a riveted circumference, for an enhanced grip. The crown has also been embossed with the ampersand (&) logo for “Bell & Ross”. All topped by a sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating. Water-resistance on this watch can reach up to 100 meters (330 feet).
Time is exhibited with hour index markers and the Arabic numerals: 3, 6, 9 and 12. But, there are many more layers to unfold. Since we can see a depth starting at the center of dial in an outward crescendo. Following the numerals is a ring of minute index markings, while on the next level circling the periphery of the dial are numerals for each 5-minute increment.
Inspiration for this timepiece comes from a cockpit, specifically the green glow of a modern aircraft HUD. All this added luminescence is able to transform an otherwise simple analog display into an intriguing digital projection.
The four corners of this round dial are “squared” by a “target frame” in a green lume applied on the underside of the crystal. A significant contrast was made possible by applying a duller green lume, against the more vibrant green seen on the central hands, index markers and Arabic numerals.
There is also a date aperture between the 4 and 5 o’clock positions. Plus a “Ltd” inscription was added between the 7 and 8 o’clock positions, to highlight the limited-edition nature of this new release.
Bell & Ross BR 03-92 HUD
The “Bell & Ross BR 03-92 HUD” (Ref#: BR0392-HUD-CE/SRB) is powered by the self-winding mechanical movement, caliber BR-CAL.302 with 25 jewels and 28,800 Vph. This movement is originally based on the Sellita SW300, available with or without a date. Power reserve on this watch can last up to 38 hours when fully wound.
Mounted to the watch is a black rubber strap, secured to the wrist by a black PVD coated steel pin buckle. It also includes an additional ultra-resilient black synthetic fabric strap, fastened by velcro.
