Audemars Piguet expands its mastery of ceramic craftsmanship with the new Royal Oak Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon in “Bleu Nuit, Nuage 50.” For the first time, the iconic 41mm Royal Oak Flying Tourbillon is crafted entirely in the historic deep blue ceramic inspired by the original 1972 Royal Oak dial. Combining one of the manufacture’s signature complications with one of its most recognizable colors, the latest model celebrates both the heritage and contemporary innovation of the Royal Oak collection.

The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon features a 41mm case measuring 10.6mm thick, crafted entirely from “Bleu Nuit, Nuage 50” ceramic, including the case, octagonal bezel, and crown. The iconic deep blue tone traces its origins to the very first Royal Oak dials produced by Stern Frères in 1972, while the combination of satin-brushed and polished hand-finished surfaces highlights the sharp angles and distinctive geometry that have defined the collection for more than five decades.

Turning the watch over reveals a sapphire crystal exhibition caseback secured by a titanium frame, offering an unobstructed view of the beautifully finished Calibre 2950. Traditional decorative techniques, including Côtes de Genève, circular graining, polished bevels, and the rhodium-toned 22k pink gold oscillating weight, emphasize Audemars Piguet’s haute horlogerie expertise.

Protecting the dial is a glareproof sapphire crystal that enhances legibility while preserving the clean appearance of the monochromatic design. The matching “Bleu Nuit, Nuage 50” ceramic crown integrates seamlessly into the case, while the robust construction maintains the refined sporting character for which the Royal Oak is renowned. Water resistance can reach up to 50 meters (164 feet).

Continuing the monochromatic aesthetic, the dial is finished in the same “Bleu Nuit, Nuage 50” shade and decorated with Audemars Piguet’s signature Grande Tapisserie pattern. The textured surface interacts beautifully with changing light, adding depth and visual richness while reinforcing the historical connection to the original Royal Oak.

Applied 18k white gold hour markers and the signature Royal Oak hands provide elegant contrast against the deep blue background. Both are filled with luminescent material to ensure excellent readability in low-light conditions.

Positioned at 6 o’clock, the flying tourbillon appears to float beneath the dial thanks to its bridge-free architecture. With the display limited to only hours, minutes, and the flying tourbillon, the complication remains the undisputed focal point of the watch.

The “Audemars Piguet Royal Oak  Flying Tourbillon Bleu Nuit  Nuage Ceramic” (Ref#: 26730CD.OO.1225CD.01) is powered by the in-house automatic Calibre 2950, comprising 270 components and 27 jewels while operating at 21,600 vibrations per hour (3Hz). Measuring 31.5mm in diameter and 6.2mm thick, the movement displays the hours, minutes, and flying tourbillon, while featuring a rhodium-toned 22k pink gold oscillating weight. Power reserve can last up to 65 hours, when fully wound.

Mounted on this watch is an integrated “Bleu Nuit, Nuage 50” ceramic bracelet, secured by a titanium AP folding clasp. The bracelet seamlessly extends the angular architecture of the case while combining hand-finished satin-brushed and polished surfaces to deliver exceptional comfort and a cohesive monochromatic appearance.
