Audemars Piguet expands its Code 11.59 collection with a new Minute Repeater Supersonnerie model featuring an 18k white gold case and a smoked sapphire dial. Building on the original Code 11.59 Minute Repeater Supersonnerie introduced in 2023, the latest edition offers a contemporary interpretation of one of traditional watchmaking’s most demanding complications. Its partially transparent dial reveals elements of the mechanical movement beneath, while the patented Supersonnerie technology enhances the clarity and projection of the minute repeater’s chimes. Powered by the manually wound caliber 2953, the new Code 11.59 Minute Repeater Supersonnerie (Ref. 26395BC.OO.D009CR.01) combines sophisticated acoustic engineering with the collection’s distinctive architectural design.
The Audemars Piguet Code 11.59 Minute Repeater Supersonnerie is housed in an 18k white gold case measuring 41mm in diameter and 13.6mm thick. The watch retains the collection’s characteristic construction, combining a round bezel and caseback with an octagonal middle case and openworked lugs. Unlike the Royal Oak Minute Repeater Supersonnerie models, the Code 11.59 features an entirely polished case middle, creating a refined contrast with the surrounding surfaces. The precious-metal construction emphasizes the architectural details that distinguish the Code 11.59 collection.

The caseback incorporates Audemars Piguet’s patented Supersonnerie soundboard, a specialized acoustic component developed to improve the volume and clarity of the minute repeater’s chimes. Rather than attaching the gongs directly to the movement, the system mounts them to a resonating soundboard positioned between the movement and the outer caseback. Fine openings in the caseback help project the sound outward, while a specially designed regulator reduces unwanted mechanical noise during the chiming sequence. The technology was first introduced in 2016 following eight years of research involving Audemars Piguet watchmakers, musicians and researchers from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL).

The crown is positioned at 3 o’clock, providing access to winding and time-setting functions, while a sliding mechanism on the left side of the case activates the minute repeater. A sapphire crystal protects the smoked sapphire dial, allowing the movement’s underlying components to remain partially visible. The caseback incorporates the specialized acoustic construction required for the Supersonnerie mechanism. Water-resistance can reach up to 20 meters (66 feet).

The Code 11.59 Minute Repeater Supersonnerie features a smoked sapphire dial that provides a partially transparent view of the manually wound caliber 2953. Its darkened surface creates a layered appearance, revealing selected mechanical components while maintaining sufficient contrast for the time indications. The design follows the approach established by the earlier pink gold version introduced in 2023, emphasizing the relationship between the movement’s technical architecture and the collection’s contemporary aesthetic.

The dial displays central hours and minutes, accompanied by a small seconds counter positioned at 6 o’clock. White gold baton-style hands and applied hour markers complement the white gold case, while a silver-toned, snailed inner bezel frames the display. The peripheral minute track and the rim surrounding the small seconds counter are produced using galvanic growth, introducing additional texture and definition against the translucent background.

The contrast between the smoked sapphire surface and the polished white gold indications contributes to the watch’s restrained appearance. Unlike the Royal Oak Minute Repeater Supersonnerie models, the Code 11.59 does not incorporate luminescent material on its hands or hour markers. Instead, the reflective precious-metal elements provide visual separation from the darkened dial, allowing the underlying mechanical construction to remain a prominent part of the design.
Code 11.59 by Audemars Piguet Minute Repeater Supersonnerie
The “Code 11.59 by Audemars Piguet Minute Repeater Supersonnerie” (Ref. 26395BC.OO.D009CR.01) is powered by the manually wound mechanical movement, caliber 2953 with 32 jewels, 362 components and a frequency of 21,600 vph, or 3Hz. Measuring 30mm in diameter and 6mm thick, the movement provides central hours and minutes, a small seconds display at 6 o’clock and a minute repeater complication incorporating Audemars Piguet’s patented Supersonnerie technology.

The acoustic system features specially developed gongs attached to a resonating soundboard, allowing the chimes to be amplified and projected more effectively than in conventional constructions. A dedicated regulator also minimizes mechanical noise during operation, improving the clarity of the chiming sequence. Power reserve can last up to 72 hours, when fully wound.

Mounted on this watch is a grey alligator leather strap that complements the cool tones of the white gold case and smoked sapphire dial. The strap is secured by an 18k white gold Audemars Piguet folding clasp, maintaining the collection’s refined appearance while providing a secure fit. Its understated color allows the architectural case construction and partially transparent dial to remain the primary visual elements.
