Unveiled during LVMH Watch Week 2026, the Zenith Defy Revival A3643 is the latest entry in a series of faithful reissues paying tribute to the brand’s boldest early Defy models. First launched in 1969, the original A3643 stood out for its avant-garde design, technical robustness, and its sharply faceted case, all traits that Zenith has meticulously preserved in this new version. Following the recent A3642, A3691, and A3690 revivals, the A3643 opts for a more restrained silver-toned sunray dial, anchoring the watch firmly in Zenith’s late-1960s design language while updating key features for the modern wearer. The result is a vintage-accurate but technically refreshed piece that bridges the past and present with integrity and style.

The Zenith Defy Revival A3643 features a 37mm stainless-steel case that closely follows the original 1969 blueprint, including the bold octagonal silhouette and distinctive 14-sided bezel. The case alternates between vertically brushed surfaces and sharply polished bevels, creating a strong visual rhythm and vintage-industrial charm. Despite its compact diameter, the faceted geometry lends it a striking presence on the wrist.A flat sapphire crystal caseback replaces the solid steel back of the historical model, offering a clear view of the automatic Elite 670 movement inside. The edge of the caseback is secured with screws and polished to match the rest of the case, while the transparent window reveals Geneva stripes on the rotor and a modern mechanical aesthetic in contrast to the retro exterior.The screw-down crown reinforces the case’s durability and supports serious water performance. A flat sapphire crystal protects the dial, preserving legibility while maintaining a low profile. Water‑resistance can reach up to 300 meters (990 feet).
The dial of the Zenith Defy Revival A3643 is finished in a refined silver sunray pattern, capturing light with crisp linear reflections and adding vintage sophistication to the display. Its layout remains faithful to the 1969 original, with a clean, no-nonsense structure centered around symmetry and legibility.

There is no outer minute track, allowing the geometric lines of the dial and case to dominate, underscoring the watch’s minimalist, architectural character.

Applied rhodium-plated hour markers are styled with a distinctive two-tier structure, each one featuring a brushed upper surface and a glossy black-lacquered recess, offering visual tension and contrast. The faceted hour and minute hands mirror the hour markers in finish, while the orange-tipped central seconds hand introduces a single point of color. A date window is tucked between 4 and 5 o’clock, maintaining the original model’s design language and preserving spatial balance.

The hour markers and hands are treated with Super-LumiNova SLN C1, ensuring nighttime readability while preserving the vintage look with a clean white glow. Combined with the subtle depth of the stepped markers and hands, the lume gives the dial a dynamic, multi-layered feel under different lighting conditions.

The ‘Zenith Defy Revival A3643’ (Ref#: 03.A3642.670/01.M3642) is powered by the in‑house self‑winding mechanical movement, caliber Elite 670 with 27 jewels and 28,800 vph. It comes equipped with a central rotor featuring Côtes de Genève finishing and a stop-seconds function. Power reserve can last up to 50 hours, when fully wound.
Mounted on this watch is a stainless-steel “ladder” bracelet, a faithful recreation of the original 1969 design by famed bracelet maker Gay Frères. It features open central links for breathability and vintage character, secured by a folding clasp that ensures a secure and comfortable fit. The sharp angles and polished-brushed finish of the bracelet echo the case’s geometric aesthetic, while its lightweight construction and smooth articulation make it exceptionally wearable, even on smaller wrists, without compromising the watch’s bold, retro presence.
