Zenith Defy Extreme Mirror

The Zenith Defy Extreme collection debuted in 2021 and brought a robust addition to the Defy family. Since its inception Zenith has focused on exploring new materials and testing out varied concepts, while beating inside are two regulating mechanisms: one beating at 5Hz for timekeeping and another at a rapid 50Hz for the chronograph, capturing precise 1/100th-of-a-second readings. This latest version is undoubtedly one of their more daring concepts. Its polished case, dial, and bracelet create a seamless look that fits in perfectly with its environment without any distortions. The 45mm diameter and 15.4mm height case is made of a mirror-polished stainless-steel that gives off quite a bright shine. Its mirror quality reflects all available light sources and beckons to be admired and seek out further reflections. Mounted to the case is Zenith’s signature 12-sided bezel in a matching alloy, which further consolidates this model's aesthetics. On the flip-side is a sapphire exhibition case back that allows a view into the inner workings of the mechanical movement. It comes equipped with two wide pushers to operate the chronograph functions, plus crown guards to ensure reinforced robustness, all made of the same mirror-like steel. While at the center of this sideline is the knurled screw-down crown, embossed with the Zenith star. Water-resistance can reach up to 200 meters (656 feet).Time is exhibited on an openworked, mirror-tinted sapphire crystal with applied rhodium-plated indices, followed by a silver ring with a minute track. On the inner flange is a second slightly distinct silver ring with a black printed 1/100th-of-a-second chronograph track that includes (different sized) Arabic numerals for every 5-minute increment. There are three silver colored counters with snailed tracks and black markings: a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, a 60-minute counter at 6 o’clock, and small seconds at the 9 o’clock position. On the upper-half of the dial a semi-circle appears to frame the Zenith logo, while also including a linear power reserve indicator at 12 o’clock. The central rhodium-plated hands, hour index markers, and sub-dials have all been coated with a Super-LumiNova coating, for an enhanced legibility. It also features a matte central chronograph seconds hand with openworked star counterweight.
