Zenith Defy El Primero 21 Land Rover
Once again Zenith is back with another release to honor their “Land Rover” partnership. This time around their 4th generation collaboration is meant to highlight the latest “Defender” crossover SUV by this iconic automotive brand. We’re talking about a “sport-luxury” vehicle that can be paired with an equally luxurious timepiece dubbed “Zenith Defy El Primero 21 Land Rover”.
The 44mm case is made of a black coated micro-blasted titanium with a transparent case back, which allows to view the inner workings of the mechanical movement.
It comes equipped with two rectangular push-pieces to operate the chronograph functions, with a setting-crown in-between them that has been engraved with the Zenith logo.
All topped by a domed sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective treatment on both sides. Water-resistance on this watch can reach up to 100 meters (330 feet).
Time is exhibited on a slate grey dial with a velvet-finish, while employing discreet white hour index markers and smaller minute markings.
There is also a 1/100th of a second scale ring with contrasting orange markings, accompanied by white double-digit numerals for every 5-second increment, circling around the periphery of the dial.
It includes three sub-dials: a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, a 60 second counter at 6 o’clock and sub-seconds counter at the 9 o’clock position. On the upper-half of the dial underneath the Zenith logo we can find a chronograph linear power-reserve indicator. The central semi-skeletonized titanium hands and hour index markers have been fitted with a luminescent coating, for an enhanced legibility.
Zenith Defy El Primero 21 Land Rover
The “Zenith Defy El Primero 21 Land Rover” (Ref#: 97.9000.9004/01.R787) is powered by the in-house selfing-winding mechanical movement, caliber El Primero 9004 with 53 jewels, 293 components and 36,000 Vph. It comes equipped with balance wheels made of “carbon-matrix carbon nanotube composite”. Power reserve on this watch can last up to 50 hours, when fully wound. But, it contains a separate 50 minute power reserve for the chronograph functions that is hand-wound. This is a TIME LAB certified movement.
Mounted to the watch is a special “Defender” gray rubber strap, while secured to the wrist by a micro-blasted titanium double folding clasp. It also comes with an additional black rubber strap with a grey “Cordura effect”. This is a limited edition of only 250 manufactured pieces, which should become available later this year.
