Zenith Chronomaster Revival ‘Shadow’

Zenith has dug into its back catalogue to release the new vintage inspired “Zenith Chronomaster Revival”, also known as the “Shadow”, due to its monochromatic color-scheme. Actually this new release is a mix-match based on the A385 case, with the dial of a 1970 prototype. The end result is a sleek watch suited for sporty adventures, while down-toned enough to also pair well with social gatherings.

The 37mm case is made of titanium, while on the flip-side we encounter a see-through sapphire crystal exhibition case back, which allows to view the inner works of the mechanical movement.

We usually encounter this model with a 38mm diameter, but this is the original 1969 case that was crafted with a slightly smaller 37mm design. Aside from that the case bands and the distinctive lugs, which have been a mainstay on this model throughout most of its iterations, are still present.

It also comes equipped with two mushroom-style push-pieces to operate the chronograph functions. All topped by a sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating. Water-resistance on this watch can reach up to 50 meters (164 feet).

Time is exhibited on a matte black dial with rhodium-plated and polished hour index markers, followed by a dark grey ring circling the periphery of the dial with a tachymeter scale.

It also includes three dark grey sub-dials: a 30-minute counter at the 3 o’clock spot, a 12-hour counter at the 6 o’clock position; and a sub-seconds at the 9 o’clock position in silver. The central rhodium-plated hour/minutes baton-style hands and hour index markers have all been fitted with a luminescent filling, for an enhanced legibility.
