Zenith Chronomaster Revival Lupin The Third

Three years ago Zenith imbued their Chronomaster A384 with pop culture vibes by embracing the Japanese manga and anime series “Lupin The Third”. Debate can be had in regards to where the initial inspiration came from, since the chronograph worn by Daisuke Jigen (who plays Lupin’s sidekick) strongly resembles Zenith’s iconic timepiece. Either way the brand brought it into the physical realm by creating three limited editions that conclude with this final mixed-dial “Zenith Chronomaster Revival Lupin The Third”.The tonneau-shaped 37mm case is made of titanium with brushed caseband that contrast with high polished lugs. Mounted to the case is a hexagonal bezel with a brushed finish and polished facets. On the flip-side is a sapphire exhibition caseback that allows a view into the inner workings of the mechanical movement. A silhouette of the main character from Lupin The Third, Daisuke Jigen, has been applied directly to the sapphire crystal. It also comes equipped with two mushroom-style push-pieces to operate the chronograph functions. All topped by a domed sapphire crystal with antireflective coating. Water-resistance on this watch is capable of reaching up to 50 meters (164 feet).Dial-wise we’re essentially met with two distinct designs in one. The dial has been cut diametrically from the 2 to 7 o’clock position. On the left side is the black/gray color scheme seen on the first “Chronomaster Revival Lupin The Third”, while the right side has the white/black color scheme of the second “Chronomaster Revival Lupin The Third”. So to finish off the collection Zenith has combined the two previous releases in this third and final installment.Time is told with half gold-plated & half rhodium-plated hour index markers, followed by small gold & black printed seconds/minutes markers. The inner flange has a tachymeter scale also divided in half gray and white, while preserving the consistency of black numerals and markings all around. It includes three sub-dials with snailed interiors: a sub-seconds at the 9 o’clock position with black numerals, markings, and a gold-plated hand. While the 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, and 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock; are both in black with white numerals, markers, and hands. The gold-plated central hour/minutes baton-style hands and mixed applied hour index markers have all been fitted with a luminescent filling, for an enhanced legibility. There is also a date window placed between the 4 and 5 o’clock positions.
