Zenith Chronomaster Revival El Primero A385
One of the most celebrated and historic caliber movements is getting reborn by Zenith, yet again. The “El Primero” returns in the form of a “Chronomaster” revival model, attached to a ladder-style bracelet. Its been more than half a century since this revolutionary movement first appeared and it continues to be held in high regard within the horology market. The 37mm tonneau-shaped case is made of stainless-steel with a sapphire exhibition case back, which allows to view the inner workings of the mechanical movement. Its case has a mixture of radial-brushed segments that then contrastes with straight-brushed and polished finishes. This is a faithful reproduction of the A385 case, released back in 1969. It comes equipped with two steel mushroom-style push-pieces to operate the chronograph functions and screw-in setting crown. All topped by a boxed sapphire crystal with a water-resistance of 50 meters (164 feet). Time is exhibited on a smoked brown gradient dial with steel applied hour index markers, followed by small white printed seconds and minute markers. Followed by a black tachymeter scale with white numerals. There is also a date aperture between the 4 and 5 o’clock positions with red numerals. It also includes three white sub-dials: a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock; a 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock; and a sub-seconds at the 9 o’clock position. The rhodium-plated central hour/minutes baton-style hands and hour index markers have all been fitted with a beige luminescence, for an enhanced legibility.
