Vacheron Constantin Overseas Chronograph iN Blue

After several novel releases during the year from their classy “Historiques” and highly limited “Métiers d’Art” collections. This latest release is a new “Vacheron Constantin Overseas Chronograph'' with a new combination of color scheme with a particular alloy. It serves once again to highlight this elegant, yet casual timepiece and its solid contemporary design. The 42.5 mm case is made of 18k pink gold with an overall brushed finish. This is a hefty watch, but to put it in numbers it has a thickness of 13.7 mm with a total weight of 249 grams (similar to a roll of nickels).Mounted to the case is a fixed two part gold bezel with alternating brushed and polished finish. The juxtaposition of these contrasting embellishments, plus that unique bezel on top, really makes the “Overseas” model standout. On the flip-side is a sapphire exhibition caseback that allows a view into the inner workings of the mechanical movement. It features a 22k gold oscillating weight adorned with a wind rose and bears the Geneva hallmark. It comes equipped with two pushers to operate the chronograph functions. Those as well as the setting-crown in between them, are all embraced by knurled screw-down pieces. This reinforcement allows for a water-resistance that can reach up to 150 meters (492 feet). Time is exhibited on a blue lacquered dial with gold applied hour markers, followed by a minute track. This blue hue has a sunburst satin finish that elegantly pairs up with the gold elements. Circling around the sloped flange is a 60-minute scale with Arabic numerals for every 5-minute increment. There are three blue sub-dials that are seamlessly incorporated: a 30-minute counter at the 3 o’clock position, a 12-hour counter at the 6 o’clock position and a small-seconds at the 9 o’clock position. The central sword-shaped gold hands and hour index markers have all undergone a luminescent coating, for an enhanced legibility. There is also a gold-framed date window between the 4 and 5 o’clock positions with a white background, for an extra touch of color. And let’s not forget the thinner, finely crafted, all gold chronograph hand.
