Ulysse Nardin Diver Chronograph Great White

Shark week is already underway and to celebrate this aquatic occasion Ulysse Nardin has released a limited edition “Diver Chronograph” with a Great White shark theme. For those that may not be aware the current existence of this species is threatened by overfishing. To help this cause, Ulysse Nardin will be donating 1% of all sales to “For The Planet” non-profit organization. Plus they’ll also be partnering up with another charitable organization called “The Shark Trust” to further ensure these goals can be met. The 44mm case is made of gray titanium with a mixture of sandblasted and brushed finish. Mounted to the case is a 12-notched concave unidirectional rotating bezel with raised numerals, and a white rubber insert. On the flipside is a solid titanium caseback that has been embossed with the image of a Great White shark. The rim portion also features a “LIMITED EDITION” inscription, although it isn’t accompanied by each model's unique number.It comes equipped with two pushers to operate the chronograph functions, which have white press down portions. In between them is a screw-down crown that assists with water-resistance reaching up to 300 meters (984 feet).Time is exhibited on a gray sandblasted dial with wide applied hour index markers that have a white interior, spaced among white printed minute markings. This color-scheme is meant to evoke the rough gray skin and white underbelly of sharks.There are three recessed sub-dials: a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, a 12-hour counter with a round white cut-out date window, and a running small seconds at the 9 o’clock position. All three of these counters add an extra touch of blue to the overall color-scheme.On the upper-half of the dial we find the Ulysse Nardin brand with an applied anchor, while below it is the inscription “GREAT WHITE”. The central hands, hour index markers, and the zero numeral on the bezel have all been fitted with a Super-LumiNova coating, for an enhanced legibility.

The Ulysse Nardin Diver Chronograph “Great White” (Ref#: 1503-170LE-1A-GW) is powered by the in-house self-winding mechanical movement, caliber UN-150 with 25 jewels and 28,800 vph. It comes equipped with an integrated column-wheel chronograph and a silicium escapement. Power reserve can last up to 48 hours, when fully wound.Mounted to the watch is a white rubber strap decorated with a luminescent Great White shark (see image above), while secured to the wrist by either a titanium tang buckle or deployant buckle.
