Ulysse Nardin continues its long tradition of astronomical watchmaking with the latest Blast Moonstruck Rose Gold. Inspired by Dr. Ludwig Oechslin’s groundbreaking Moonstruck concept and housed within the contemporary Blast case, the new limited edition presents a captivating geocentric view of the heavens. Combining world time, highly accurate lunar indications, and celestial mechanics with modern materials and manufacture expertise, it stands as one of the brand’s most technically sophisticated timepieces.
The Ulysse Nardin Blast Moonstruck is housed in a 45mm case combining an 18k rose gold upper section with a black DLC-treated titanium middle case and bezel. Satin-brushed and polished finishes highlight the angular architecture of the Blast collection, while the contrasting materials reinforce both the luxurious and technical character of the watch.

On the flipside the watch reveals a sapphire crystal exhibition caseback displaying the manufacture UN-106 movement. The automatic caliber is fitted with a rose gold oscillating weight, allowing the owner to appreciate the movement’s refined construction and modern silicon technology.

A prominent sapphire box crystal creates the space necessary for the suspended three-dimensional globe while providing uninterrupted views of the complex astronomical display beneath. Pushers positioned on the left side of the case allow local time to be adjusted independently in one-hour increments without affecting the minutes or astronomical indications. Water-resistance can reach up to 30 meters (100 feet).

The centerpiece of the Blast Moonstruck is a three-dimensional representation of the Earth’s Northern Hemisphere, engraved on the underside of a domed sapphire crystal that appears to float above a shimmering aventurine base. Together, the suspended globe and star-filled background create a remarkable visualization of the Earth as seen from space.

Orbiting around the globe are representations of the Sun and Moon, displaying an exceptionally precise moon phase, the days of the lunar month, tidal coefficients, and the apparent positions of both celestial bodies around the Earth.

The Sun also serves as part of the rotating 24-hour world time display, working in conjunction with the fixed city ring and day/night indication to visualize global time zones.

A rose gold date ring surrounds the central display, while luminous hour and minute hands and a triangular pointer ensure the watch remains surprisingly legible despite the extraordinary amount of astronomical information presented. The moon phase is so precise that it requires correction by only one day every 40.3 years.
