Bell & Ross BR-03 Green Radar

Bell & Ross BR-03 Green Radar

Bell & Ross revisits one of its most unconventional aviation-inspired designs with the introduction of the BR-03 Green Radar Ceramic, a new limited edition that transforms the traditional watch dial into a miniature aircraft surveillance display. First introduced in 2010 with the BR-01 Radar, the concept has evolved through several iterations featuring rotating discs, tinted crystals and aircraft-shaped indicators. The latest edition combines these elements with a green-tinted sapphire crystal, three independently rotating aircraft displays and luminous radar trails. Housed in a 41mm black ceramic case, the BR-03 Green Radar Ceramic (Ref. BR03A-GRDR-CE/SRB) is limited to 999 pieces worldwide.

The Bell & Ross BR-03 Green Radar Ceramic is housed in a microblasted black ceramic case measuring 41mm in width and 10.6mm thick. Its distinctive square architecture retains the instrument-inspired design associated with the BR-03 collection, featuring a circular dial opening surrounded by four exposed corner screws. The matte black ceramic construction provides a subdued exterior that complements the watch’s aviation-inspired display, while the reduced dimensions make this the most compact ceramic Radar model to date.

The solid caseback features an engraving depicting the three aircraft represented on the dial: the Falcon, Rafale and Neuron. This detail reinforces the watch’s connection to aviation technology while distinguishing the Green Radar Ceramic from earlier models in the Radar collection.

The crown is positioned at 3 o’clock, providing access to winding and time-setting functions while maintaining the familiar BR-03 case architecture. A green-tinted sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating protects the dial, creating the distinctive appearance of an aircraft radar screen. Water-resistance can reach up to 100 meters (328 feet).

The defining feature of the BR-03 Green Radar Ceramic is its unconventional dial, inspired by the visual appearance of an airborne surveillance display. Rather than using traditional hands, the watch incorporates three superimposed rotating discs, each carrying the image of a different aircraft.

Fixed hour markers at 3, 6, 9 and 12 o’clock, along with printed graduations and a target-style marking beneath the sapphire crystal, provide reference points for reading the time. The outermost disc features a Falcon aircraft representing the hours, completing one revolution every 12 hours. A second disc carries a Rafale fighter jet, indicating the minutes as it completes one revolution every 60 minutes.

Finally, a Neuron experimental unmanned combat aircraft represents the running seconds, rotating once every 60 seconds. This arrangement transforms the movement of the hands into a continuously changing aerial scene, with the three aircraft traveling at different speeds around the dial.

Each aircraft is treated with Dark Green Super-LumiNova, producing a green glow that reinforces the radar-inspired appearance. Luminous trails extend behind the aircraft, recreating the visual effect of moving targets on a surveillance screen. Combined with the green-tinted sapphire crystal, these details give the dial a distinctive appearance in both daylight and low-light conditions, while bringing together design elements previously explored in earlier Radar models.

Bell & Ross BR-03 Green Radar Ceramic

The “Bell & Ross BR-03 Green Radar Ceramic” (Ref. BR03A-GRDR-CE/SRB) is powered by the self-winding mechanical movement, caliber BR-CAL.327, based on the Sellita SW300-1 architecture and operating at a frequency of 28,800 vph, or 4Hz. The automatic movement has been adapted to drive three independently rotating discs that replace conventional hands, with the Falcon indicating the hours, the Rafale displaying the minutes and the Neuron representing the running seconds. Power reserve can last up to 54 hours, when fully wound.

Mounted on this watch is a black rubber strap that complements the microblasted ceramic case and maintains the sporty character associated with the BR-03 collection.

An additional ultra-resilient black synthetic fabric strap is also included, offering an alternative configuration. Both straps are secured by a steel pin buckle with a black PVD finish, preserving the watch’s predominantly black appearance.
