Tudor Pelagos FXD and Chrono "Alinghi Red Bull Racing Edition”

The partnership between Tudor and Alinghi Red Bull Racing was announced just last year in 2022. Now for a follow-up they are releasing two new Pelagos FXD models (time-only and a chronograph) inspired by yacht racing. Both watches feature the fixed strap-bars case, which is a first in the chronographs case (pun intended). In terms of craftsmanship the combination of carbon composite and titanium seem to invoke the AC75 hydrofoil racing yacht used in the America's Cup. First up the time-only option comes in a 42mm case made of black carbon composite with a matte finish. On the flipside a solid caseback engraved by the Alinghi Red Bull Racing logo. Mounted to the case is a titanium bi-directioal rotating bezel with matte black carbon composite insert, with 60-minute scale.The chronograph version comes in a slightly larger 43mm with the same caseback and bezel design. Plus it features piston-style pushers to operate the chronograph functions. A very handy complication to keep track of these regattas, yacht races and countdowns.The overall design of theses watches may recall some vintage Rolex Submariner. Its color scheme also carries an aquatic theme, but its very solid and legible dial has military roots. Plus lets not forget the fixed (FXD) bar lungs, which is notably inspired by vintage military dive watches.Both come equipped with a screw-down titanium crown adorned with the Tudor shield in relief. This mix of alloys adds an extra dimension to its wrist presence. Water-resistance can reach up to 200 meters (660 feet).Time is exhibited on a matte blue dial with a mixture of squared, rectangular hour index markers, and a singular triangular mark at the 12 o’clock position; while a ring of smaller white printed minute markers circle around an elevated periphery.Just like the previous Tudor Pelagos FXD “Marine Nationale”, the brand has released another Pelagos without a date aperture. A modification that led to a 1.5 mm thinner case.The chronograph include two sub-dials with a red outline: a 45-minute counter at 3 o'clock and a small seconds at the 9 o'clock spot.
An overall very simple, effective, and respectful layout. The central “snowflake” style hands and hour index markers have all been fitted with a  luminescent coating, for an enhanced legibility.

The Tudor Pelagos FXD Chrono “Alinghi Red Bull Racing Edition” (Ref#: M25807KN-0001) is powered by a self-winding mechanical movement, caliber MT5813 with 47 jewels and 28,800 vph.
