One of the best diver options on the market just added another variable into the mix. The “Tudor Pelagos” is a professional diver’s timepiece, which recently renewed their connection to the French Marine Nationale, by releasing the “Pelagos FXD” edition.

Now they’re widening the Pelagos appeal with this smaller wrist option, while preserving all the qualities that garnered its reputation.The 39mm case is made of Grade 2 titanium with a matching solid case back. Despite the size reduction this is still the same robust timepiece with a solid construction, just like its larger options.

Mounted to the case is a titanium unidirectional, coin-edged rotating bezel with a ceramic insert that has a sunray satin finish, and 60-minute graduated scale fitted with a luminous material. It also comes equipped with a screw-down titanium crown adorned with the Tudor shield in relief. Water-resistance can reach up to 200m (660 feet). Time is exhibited on a black dial with a mixture of squared, rectangular hour index markers, and a singular triangular mark at the 12 o’clock position; while a ring of smaller white printed minute markers circle around a sloped flange.

The dial has a sunray satin finish that finely blends in with the bezel’s ceramic insert. It keeps the overall aesthetics in a harmonious overlap of materials. An extra touch of color also appears in the form of the “PELAGOS” inscription written with a red font.The central “snowflake” style hands and hour index markers have all been fitted with a luminescent coating, for an enhanced legibility.

The “Tudor Pelagos 39” (Ref#: 25407N) is powered by an in-house self-winding mechanical movement, caliber MT5400 with 27 jewels and 28,800 vph. It comes equipped with a traversing balance bridge, free-sprung Microstella balance wheel, and silicon balance spring. Power reserve on this timepiece can last up to 70 hours.Mounted to the watch is a titanium three-link bracelet, secured by a Tudor “T-fit” folding clasp, which has a safety catch and diver’s extension.It also includes a complimentary black rubber strap, secured by a pin buckle.For more up to date information visit the official Tudor website here.
