Tudor Black Bay Pro with Opaline Dial
Tudor’s update to the Black Bay Pro collection at Watches & Wonders 2025 isn’t about reinvention, it’s about refinement. The addition of an opaline dial brings a lighter, more approachable aesthetic to this compact GMT tool watch, which until now had only been available with a black dial. While the specs remain unchanged, this new version offers a welcome alternative for collectors who appreciate the Pro’s rugged build but prefer a more versatile and legible dial design. It’s a small change, but one that meaningfully expands the appeal of the Black Bay Pro.
The 39mm stainless steel case has a substantial 14.6mm thickness, preserving the rugged proportions of its predecessor. It has a fully satin-brushed finish, accentuating its tool-watch roots, and a fixed steel bezel engraved with a 24-hour scale. The case shape remains consistent with the original Black Bay Pro, offering a balanced, compact profile that fits comfortably on a range of wrists despite its thickness.
On the flipside we encounter a solid screwed down stainless-steel caseback, maintaining the watch’s robust appeal while ensuring structural durability for everyday use and travel. Beneath the surface lies the COSC-certified in-house caliber, which is not visible but is a proven workhorse known for both reliability and accuracy. It comes equipped with a screw-down crown engraved with the Tudor rose logo and fluted edges for secure grip and smooth operation. All topped by a flat sapphire crystal that offers solid scratch protection. Water-resistance can reach up to 200 meters (660 feet).
The Tudor Black Bay Pro with opaline dial offers a brighter, more contemporary take on the tool-oriented aesthetic of the original. Its slightly domed surface gives off a subdued satin texture, delivering a vintage-inspired look reminiscent of classic “polar” expedition watches. Paired with the brushed steel bezel and compact case proportions, the dial feels clean, modern, and versatile enough for everyday wear.
The applied ceramic hour markers are outlined in black for contrast, as are the signature “Snowflake” hour and minute hands. At 3 o’clock sits a date aperture, maintaining the layout of the original release. The bold yellow 24-hour hand retains its prominent role, tracking a second time zone across the fixed 24-hour steel bezel. Despite the lighter dial color, Tudor has kept the overall balance and symmetry intact. To aid visibility in low light, both the hands and hour markers are filled with Grade A Swiss Super-LumiNova, glowing green when charged. Altogether, the new dial layout achieves high contrast, everyday legibility, and a fresh visual identity within the Black Bay Pro lineup.
Tudor Black Bay Pro with Opaline Dial
The “Tudor Black Bay Pro” (References below) is powered by the in-house self-winding mechanical movement, caliber MT5652-U with 25 jewels and 28,800 vph. This movement integrates a true GMT function directly into the caliber, allowing the wearer to adjust the local hour without disturbing the other functions, which is a rare feature at this price point. Power reserve can last up to 70 hours, when fully wound.
The new opaline dial Tudor Black Bay Pro is available with three strap options, each offering its own style and level of versatility. Buyers can choose a riveted stainless steel bracelet equipped with Tudor’s T-fit clasp, allowing for rapid micro-adjustments without the use of tools. Alternatively, the model is offered on a hybrid leather-and-rubber strap that combines comfort with durability. For those who prefer a sportier aesthetic, there’s also a black Jacquard fabric strap, woven in France and accented by a yellow central stripe to match the GMT hand.
