TAG Heuer celebrates its historic connection to Formula One and the Monaco Grand Prix with a striking new tribute to its enduring partnership with Gulf. The limited-edition TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph x Gulf revives the iconic Gulf livery with a refined twist, pairing a creamy dial with asymmetric racing stripes, vintage design cues, and a titanium case. With only 971 pieces available, this edition merges retro motorsport flair with modern craftsmanship.
The new TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph x Gulf is housed in a 39mm case crafted from Grade 2 titanium with a fully sandblasted matte finish. Its darker tone and lightweight nature offer a modern reinterpretation of the iconic Monaco silhouette, while preserving the distinct square form and bold presence on the wrist.
Flipping the watch over reveals a sapphire crystal caseback that offers a view of the Calibre 11 movement. The screw-down design is engraved with commemorative markings and ensures secure protection, while reinforcing the robust and functional nature of this chronograph.
The angular case features flowing curves, subtly arched lugs, and beveled octagonal chronograph pushers at 2 and 4 o'clock, reinforcing its motorsport heritage. All topped by a convex sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating safeguards the front of the watch, offering distortion-free legibility. Water-resistance can reach up to 100 meters (330 feet).
The cream-toned dial of the Monaco Chronograph x Gulf evokes Steve McQueen’s 1971 Le Mans racing suit, delivering a subtle vintage warmth that avoids faux patina. Two diagonal Gulf stripes, one in cobalt blue, the other in vivid orange, extend from 1 to 5 o’clock, partially crossing over the black 3 o’clock running seconds subdial.High-contrast design details lend a strong sense of visual depth. A bold black minutes track cuts across the Gulf stripes and is cleanly interrupted by the black subdial, suggesting layered construction. Slight differences in line thickness further enhance the illusion, giving the dial dimensional nuance.
Additional highlights include horizontal applied hour markers reminiscent of early Calibre 11 models, a fluorescent orange central chronograph hand, and a small printed Gulf logo above 6 o’clock. Completing the vintage aesthetic is the old-school printed Heuer shield logo beneath 12 o’clock.
