TAG Heuer Carrera Year of the Tiger
One of the most lucrative luxury markets worldwide is found in China, which has led more and more brands to develop specific products to cater to their traditions and customs. The Chinese Year of the Tiger will begin on February 1, 2022 following the classical Chinese zodiac. To celebrate the occasion TAG Heuer has released the “Carrera Year of the Tiger Limited Edition” timepiece with a feline theme represented by a unique dial design.
The 41mm case is made of stainless-steel with a polished surface and brushed caseband finish. Mounted to the case is a fixed narrow sloping steel bezel with a high mirror-like polished finish. 
On the flip-side is a sapphire exhibition caseback that allows a view into the inner workings of the mechanical movement. The view is partially obstructed by an illustration of a blue tiger ready to pounce, etched directly onto the crystal. Beneath that we get the glimpses of perlage across the bridges and a signed rotor topped with Côtes de Genève. The limited edition status of the watch has been engraved on the periphery of the steel portion of this caseback.
It comes equipped with a polished rose gold setting-crown. The case also features the Carrera model line's signature angular beveled lugs. All topped by a sapphire crystal that assists with water-resistance reaching up to 100 meters (330 feet).
The unique dial has an overall blue hue with a lighter tone creating a stripe-pattern, while underneath is a darker textured layer meant to resemble tiger’s fur. The stripes are made of horizontally brushed metal with a blue PVD treatment, while the bottom layer is a darker painted metal texture.
Time is told with 18k 5N gold plated hour index markers, while circling around is a sloped blue flange with a white printed minute scale and Arabic numerals for every 10-minute increment. The central hands, the frame of the day/date display, and the TAG Heuer shield logo below the 12 o’clock position, have all been plated in 18k rose gold. 
To stand-out from the mostly blue color-scheme, the day/date display was given a white background. 
Only the central hands have been fitted with a green luminest filling, for an enhanced legibility, while the gold indexes were crafted as solid pieces without any lume. 
TAG Heuer Carrera Tiger
The “TAG Heuer Carrera Tiger” (Ref#: WBN2050.FC6506) is powered by the in-house self-winding mechanical movement, caliber 5 with 25 rubies and 28,800 vph. It is based on the original ETA 2824-2 movement with specific enhancements for this TAG Heuer. Power reserve can last up to 38 hours, when fully wound.
Mounted to the watch is a dark midnight blue calf leather strap with exposed rose gold-tone contrast stitching, while secured to the wrist by a steel folding clasp with two safety push-buttons.
This is a limited edition of only 300 manufactured pieces and comes in a blue lacquered box with a similar tiger-stripe motif, as seen on the dial.
