TAG Heuer Carrera X Porsche RS 2.7

During the pandemic hooking up wasn’t easy, but TAG Heuer and Porsche were able to create a partnership in 2021. Now to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7, these brands have joined forces to release two-limited edition watches. Both models carry several car themed elements that unequivocally link them back to this historic set of wheels and machinery. The 42mm case is available in either stainless-steel or 18k 5N rose gold, both with an overall polished finish. Mounted to the case is a fixed bezel in a matching alloy, adding a tighter frame to our set view.On the flip-side is a sapphire exhibition caseback that allows a view into the inner workings of the mechanical movement. The oscillating weight was ingeniously crafted as a steering wheel.The left-side of the case was engraved with “Carrera” and a brushed sideline, cutting through the polished finish for the gold version, or a blue sideline for the steel version. It comes equipped with two piston-style pushers that operate the chronograph functions. In between them is a knurled setting-crown embossed with TAG Heuer logo in gold or blue for the steel version. Water-resistance can reach up to 100 meters (330 feet).

All these smaller details really help set each model apart with their own look. Time is exhibited on a white opaline dial (for both) with applied indices that match each model's alloy. Beyond the overall white hue these watches differ by using blue or red to color in all the other timely indications. This two-tone aesthetics is also meant to invoke the color scheme and spirit of the classic 1972 Porsche.They both include an inner ring circling through the hourly index markers, while a 60 seconds scale can be seen all around the flange periphery.It features the same tri-compax layout of the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph: a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, 12-hour counter at 9 o’clock (both with a snailed interior), and a small-seconds and date window at 6 o’clock. The central hour/minute hands and indices have all been fitted with a luminescent filling for an enhanced legibility.

The “TAG Heuer Carrera X Porsche RS 2.7” (References below) is powered by the in-house self-winding mechanical movement, caliber Heuer 02 with 33 rubies, and 28,800 vph. It comes equipped with a rapid date correction and the Official Swiss Chronometer Control (C.O.S.C) certificate. Power reserve can last up to 80 hours, when fully wound.Mounted on the watches is either a red alligator scaled leather strap with tone-on-tone stitching, secured by a polished 18k pink gold pin buckle. While the steel model is delivered with a sporty fabric strap with the Porsche logo and Carrera markings, plus an additional satin-brushed and polished steel bracelet with H-shaped links, secured by a deployment clasp.The steel model is limited to 500 manufactured pieces, while the rose gold model is more exclusive and limited to only 250 pieces.
