TAG Heuer Autavia Flyback Chronograph Panda Dial

TAG Heuer kicked off 2022 with a series of new releases to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Autavia collection. We reviewed a few of these options, including a predominantly black toned chronograph. But, for those in search of a brighter option the “TAG Heuer Autavia Flyback Chronograph “ is also available with a finely crafted “Panda” dial with a contrasted finish.The 42mm case is made in stainless-steel with vertical brushed surfaces and casebands, but some contrasting polished accents. Mounted to the case is a black ceramic bidirectional bezel with a 60 minute scale and coin-edged rim.On the flip-side is a sapphire exhibition case back that allows a view into the inner workings of the mechanical movement.In full display is a high-performance skeletonised rotor and a column wheel with the red colored “CAL HEUER 02 SWISS MADE” engraving.It comes equipped with two distinctive knurled based tall pushers to operate the chronograph functions. In between them is an extra-large screw-down crown with a knurled circumference for a reinforced grip, and adorned by the TAG Heuer logo. All topped with a scratch-proof sapphire crystal that assists with water-resistance that can reach up to 100 meters (330 feet).Time is exhibited on a black and silver, so-called “panda” dial with large Arabic numerals, followed by a ring of black printed minutes/seconds markings. The silver hue portion has a sun-ray finish, while the black counters and bezel provide a balanced color-scheme combination.There are three sub-dials: a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock and a 12-hour counter at the 9 o’clock position, both in black with a snailed interior and sloped flanges. The sub-seconds dial at 6 o’clock differs by not having a snailed or sloped design. Plus its silver hue makes it blend in with the overall color-scheme, while contrasting it a bit without that sunray finish. The central sword-style hands, Arabic numerals, and few hour index markers have all been fitted with a green luminescent filing, for an enhanced legibility. There is also a date window at 6 o’clock that intersects with the sub-seconds sub-dial.

The “TAG Heuer Autavia Flyback Chronograph“ (Ref#: CBE511B.FC8279) is powered by the in-house self-winding mechanical movement, caliber 02 with 33 rubies, 233 components, and 28,800 vph. Power reserve on this watch can last up to 80 hours, when fully wound.Mounted to the watch is a black alligator scaled strap with tone-on-tone stitching, secured to the wrist by a stainless-steel pin buckle with a fine brushed finish. It also features a special modular quick-release system that makes swapping straps as easy as pressing a button.For more information visit the official TAG Heuer website here.
