Swatch X Omega MoonSwatch Mission On Earth

Omega and Swatch continue to surprise with their inventive MoonSwatch variations. Their latest collaboration introduces three Earth-inspired models that are bursting with creativity. Unlike the previous subtle variants and Snoopy-themed releases, the new “Mission on Earth” series includes the “Polar Lights,” “Desert,” and “Lava” editions, each reflecting a unique aspect of our planet. The 42mm case with a thickness of 13.25mm is made of BioCeramic with an orange, turquoise, or sand-colored finish. This innovative material is not only lightweight and durable but also environmentally friendly, aligning with Swatch’s commitment to sustainability. The surface of the case features a mixture of brushed and polished finishes, adding a refined touch to the vibrant colors. The case is further complemented by a fixed bezel with a tachymeter scale, enhancing its functionality and aesthetic appeal. On the flip-side is a matching bioceramic caseback, which just like the previous releases has a batter cap decorated with an image of this model's theme. Below that we can read the inscription text “MISSION TO THE MOON ”. Finally circling around the periphery of the caseback we can read “DREAM BIG - FLY HIGHER - EXPLORE THE UNIVERSE - REACH FOR THE PLANETS - ENJOY THE MISSION”. It comes equipped with a screw-in setting crown and two push-pieces to set that thin central hand in action over the various complications. While the MoonSwatch case may appear sizable on paper, its actual size is moderated by the short lugs, resulting in a more balanced and wearable design in reality. All topped by a box-shaped sapphire crystal. Water-resistance can reach up to 30 meters (98 feet).Time is exhibited on a black, dark blue with tiny silver-colored sparkles, or taupe dial, each corresponding to the “Lava,” “Polar Lights,” and “Desert” variations respectively. The dial is studded with little “stars” of tiny silver-colored flakes inspired by aventurine glass dials (Polar Lights) or features a subtle, earthy aesthetic (Desert). It features three sub-dials: a 60-minute counter, a 12-hour counter, and a small seconds sub-dial, all with a radial format for the numerals and indexes. This design is a nod to the Speedmaster “Ultraman” and Omega’s Alaska II and III projects. The hands and markers are luminescent, ensuring readability in low light conditions. In keeping with traditional Speedmaster design, the dial features a stepped periphery. The “Polar Lights” model includes a central hour/minute hands crafted to resemble aventurine glass, while the “Lava” version includes an orange seconds hand inspired by the Speedmaster “Ultraman.”
