Rolex Yacht-Master 42 iN RLX Titanium

For those ready to take sail Rolex has got you covered with the release of the new “Yacht-Master 42”. Although this model originally debuted back in 1992 and as the name implies was created with the sea in mind, many regarded it more as a luxury watch than a nautical one. Until now it had been available in various materials from stainless-steel, to gold, and even platinum. But this new RLX titanium version marks the first time many have begun to regard the Yacht-Master as a true seafaring timepiece, made to withstand aquatic adventures.  The 42mm case is made of a proprietary alloy designated as RLX titanium with an overall brushed finish and polished accents. It also has a solid case back and a middle case portion with a polished finish. Besides the “Rolex Deepsea Challenge” that was released last year in 2022, this is the only other model crafted out of this lightweight material. Despite being around for over 50 years, Rolex has only recently become inclined to incorporate it into some of their collections.Mounted to the watch is a bi-directional rotatable bezel with a 60-minute graduated Cerachrom insert in matt black ceramic, featuring raised graduation markers and Arabic numerals with a polished finish. It also comes equipped with a white-gold winding crown fitted with a Triplock triple waterproof system, which is found between a pair of crown-guards that are an integral part of the middle case. All topped by a sapphire crystal that also assists with water-resistance reaching up to 100 meters (330 feet).Time is exhibited on a black lacquered dial with 18k white gold applied hour index markers in round, rectangular and a triangular shape at the 12 o’clock position. Circling the dial are also small white printed minute index markers. There is also a date aperture at the 3 o’clock position that is magnified by a cyclops lens hovering over it on the sapphire crystal. The central 18k white hands and hour index markers have all been fitted with a blue Chromalight luminescence, for an enhanced legibility.
