Rolex Land-Dweller 40

Rolex has surprised the watch world with the debut of the Land-Dweller collection, marking the introduction of a new integrated bracelet series with elegant sports appeal. While the silhouette recalls late-1970s designs like the Oysterquartz and mechanical Datejust 1630, this is not merely a vintage revival. The Land-Dweller represents a forward-looking vision, pairing historical design cues with the most advanced movement Rolex has ever placed in a non-Professional model, the newly developed calibre 7135, featuring a patented Dynapulse escapement and Syloxi hairspring.
Crafted with sharp architectural lines and contemporary finishing, the 40mm case of the Rolex Land-Dweller embraces a barrel-shaped silhouette reminiscent of the brand’s experimental 1970s references, such as the mechanical 1530 and 1630 models. Its design reintroduces an integrated aesthetic that predates even the famed Oysterquartz.
The 2025 Land-Dweller revives that concept, refining it with modern materials and proportions, including a slimmer 9.70mm profile and your choice of Oystersteel with a white gold bezel, solid Everose gold, or 950 platinum.

On the reverse, a sapphire exhibition caseback offers a rare view into the movement, a notable departure from Rolex’s standard solid casebacks. Like the Perpetual 1908, this model embraces display casebacks as a mark of refined mechanical achievement. The flat sapphire crystal on the front is treated with anti-reflective coating, preserving clarity and reducing glare.
The fluted bezel sits more upright than on the Datejust or Day-Date, reinforcing the watch’s contemporary stance. Brushed surfaces dominate the case, accented by polished chamfers for contrast. Completing the design is a screw-down Twinlock crown, ensuring robust sealing alongside the fully integrated Flat Jubilee bracelet. Despite the watch’s elegance, functionality is not sacrificed. Water-resistance can reach up to 100 meters (328 feet).
A new geometric pattern gives the dial of the Rolex Land-Dweller its signature character. The honeycomb motif is a refined lattice of repeating hexagonal cells, embossed onto a matte satin-finished surface for the white and gold models, while the platinum edition receives a sunray finish over a vibrant ice-blue base. The pattern lends subtle texture and depth to the dial, while remaining understated enough to preserve overall legibility.
Rolex introduces a distinct visual language for this model with new, specially designed applied numerals at 6 and 9 o’clock. Inspired by those seen on the Explorer and Air-King, these numerals are rendered with open centers, giving them a contemporary and almost architectural appearance. The rectilinear hour and minute hands are unique to this model and extend cleanly across the dial, matching the modernity of the design.
The entire composition is framed by a sharply angled minute flange, pad-printed with a half-second graduation for precise reading. For visibility in low light, all three versions of the Land-Dweller feature Rolex’s Chromalight display on the hands and markers. The luminous compound fills each hour index from base to tip, enhancing both visibility and the overall symmetry of the display.

The “Rolex Land-Dweller 40” (Ref#: 127334 / 127335 / 127336) is powered by the self-winding in-house mechanical movement, caliber 7135, with 39 jewels, beating at a high frequency of 5Hz (36,000 vph).
It comes equipped with a Syloxi hairspring, and a newly patented Dynapulse escapement made entirely of silicon. It also includes a variable inertia balance wheel with ceramic balance staff, mounted under a traversing bridge and regulated by Microstella nuts. Power reserve can last up to 66 hours when fully wound.
Mounted on the watch is a newly developed “Flat Jubilee” bracelet composed of five-piece solid links, with polished raised center links and technically satin-finished outer links that feature polished chamfered edges. This design, exclusive to the Land-Dweller, integrates seamlessly with the case and includes ceramic inserts around the spring bars for enhanced durability. The bracelet is secured to the wrist by a concealed folding Crownclasp, ensuring both visual continuity and comfort
