Rolex GMT-Master II with Black & Gray Ceramic Bezel
Among the various new releases for Rolex at Watches & Wonders 2023 was the return of their “GMT-Master II” in yellow gold and a two-tone version. Both models come with black and gray bezel inserts, which is actually a new color scheme. Besides these subtle novelties of including different combinations of hues and materials, this is technically the same solid GMT fit for all sorts of travels. The 40mm x 11.90mm case is available in either Oystersteel or 18k yellow gold both with brushed surfaces and polished accents. These cases are composed of a monobloc middle case with a screw-down case back. Mounted to both cases is an 18k yellow gold bi-directional rotatable 24-hour graduated bezel with a two-tone black and gray Cerachrom insert in ceramic, which features engraved numerals and graduations. The lugs and sides of the Oyster case feature the same slightly redesigned elements seen on the “Pepsi” and “Root beer” updates of 2019.All topped by a sapphire crystal that includes a cyclops lens over the date. Plus it comes equipped with a screw-down crown that has a Triplock triple waterproof system, which assures water-resistance can reach up to 100 meters (330 feet).Time is exhibited on a glossy black dial with 18k yellow gold applied hour index markers in round, rectangular and a triangular shape at the 12 o’clock position. While circling the flange is a white printed minute track ring. The central hands, hour index markers and arrow-tip of the gold GMT hand, have all been fitted with a Chromalight luminescent material, for an enhanced legibility. The 24-hour hand has been coated with blue lacquer. There is also a date aperture at the 3 o’clock position with the aforementioned magnifying cyclops lens.
