Patek Philippe Quadruple Complication 5308G-001

Patek Philippe Quadruple Complication 5308G-001

Unveiled at Watches and Wonders 2025, the Patek Philippe Quadruple Complication Ref. 5308G-001 marks the official debut of one of the most complex and ambitious wristwatches in the brand’s history. Originally introduced in platinum as a Tokyo Grand Exhibition exclusive in 2023, this new white gold version enters the regular collection with the same staggering combination of four high complications: a minute repeater, a mono-pusher split-seconds chronograph, and an instantaneous perpetual calendar. Despite its technical density, the watch is housed in a refined 42mm case and executed with the traditional elegance and precision that define Patek Philippe’s approach to modern haute horlogerie.
The new “Patek Philippe Quadruple Complication” is housed in a white gold case measuring 42mm in diameter and 17.71mm thick. While the diameter keeps the watch wearable for a Grand Complication, the height reflects the intense mechanical complexity packed within. The overall design is traditional, yet elevated by modern refinements, including a concave bezel and sculpted, openworked lugs that lighten the visual profile. These lugs are individually polished and carefully integrated, offering a balance of elegance and presence. On the flipside it's caseback offers two options: an interchangeable sapphire crystal back that reveals the full extent of the 799-component Caliber R CHR 27 PS QI in motion, and a solid white gold back for those who prefer discretion. Through the display back, key features such as the platinum micro-rotor, column wheels, and split-seconds isolator mechanism are on full display, along with the refined anglage and circular graining associated with the Patek Philippe Seal.It comes equipped with rectangular pushers at 2 and 4 o’clock to operate the mono-pusher chronograph and rattrapante function, along with a side slide at 9 o’clock for the minute repeater. A recessed corrector at 10 o’clock adjusts the perpetual calendar. All topped by a domed sapphire crystal that provides a distortion-free view of the intricate dial below. The case is humidity and dust-protected, but not water-resistant.
The dial is executed in a radiant ice-blue sunburst finish that gently shifts in tone under different lighting conditions, providing an elegant contrast to the white gold case. All indications are arranged with symmetry and restraint, despite the sheer volume of information.
The perpetual calendar’s triple aperture arc between 10 and 2 o’clock display: day, date, and month, while bordered by an inlaid white gold frame. The larger date window receives visual emphasis, anchoring the top portion of the display.
At the lower half of the dial, the instantaneous day/night and leap year indicators are positioned at 8 and 4 o’clock, respectively, each presented in their own discreet aperture. Just below center lies the running seconds and chronograph minute subdial, organized into a 60-second ring and 60-minute totalizer for optimal readability. Despite the complexity, all displays are intuitive and legible, a result of thoughtful layout and Patek’s long experience with calendar chronographs.
Applied faceted hour markers and dauphine-style hands are crafted in white gold and receive a refined blue metallization treatment to match the overall dial tone.
The hands are polished for clarity and contrast, maintaining a hierarchy between the time-telling and complication elements. A printed railway-style minute track encircles the dial for visual balance and precision in reading elapsed seconds.

Patek Philippe Quadruple Complication Reference 5308G-001

The “Patek Philippe Quadruple Complication” (Ref#: 5308G-001) is powered by the in-house self-winding mechanical movement, caliber R CHR 27 PS QI with 67 jewels, 799 components, and 21,600 vph. It comes equipped with a platinum off- center minirotor for efficient energy delivery. The chronograph’s vertical clutch system ensures precise start/stop behavior, while a patented isolator mechanism prevents energy loss when the split-seconds hand is halted. The minute repeater’s acoustic profile is tuned and approved by Patek Philippe’s president, Thierry Stern, ensuring consistency with the maison’s characteristic chime. Power reserve can last up to 48 hours when fully wound.
Mounted on the watch is a navy blue alligator leather strap featuring large square scales and hand-stitching, secured by a patented triple-blade fold-over clasp in 18k white gold, designed for comfort and security while maintaining a slim profile on the wrist.
