Patek Philippe Complications 5172G
Back in 2019 they released a blue dial version and for 2022 Patek Philippe returns with a brighter color scheme for reference 5172G of the Complications collection. This model is embedded with a classic vintage spirit, plus an architecture protected by six patented innovations. The 41mm case is made of 18k white gold with a polished finish and a height of 11.45mm. It was crafted from a single block of white gold and then hand-finished in order to include those precise lines. It features finely crafted three-tiered faceted lugs, also referred to as “claw lugs”, which further refine its subtle attention to detail. On the flip-side is an interchangeable solid 18k white gold caseback and sapphire crystal that allows a view into the inner workings of the mechanical movement. This caliber originally received six patents, which included readjusting reset hammers and optimized gear tooth profiles. It has also been decorated with chamfered bridges and Geneva stripes. It comes equipped with two push-pieces that can operate the chronograph functions, while placed between them is a knurled setting-crown embossed with the Calatrava cross. All covered by a box-type sapphire crystal that elevates the case height, by being raised higher above the bezel. Water-resistance on this watch can reach up to 30 meters (100 feet).Time is exhibited on a rose-gilt opaline dial with charcoal gray gold applied Arabic numerals, while circling around the dial is a transfer-printed minute railway-track. The outer flange also includes a tachymeter scale that can be tracked along by a thin black chronograph hand. There are two snailed sub-dials: a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock and a sub-seconds aligned at the 9 o’clock position. The central sharp-tipped rectangular “syringe style” hands and Arabic numerals have all been filled with a green luminescent coating, for an enhanced legibility.
