Patek Philippe Aquanaut Luce “Rainbow” Chronograph

Earlier this year we welcomed the musically themed “Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Music Edition” with a rainbow colored concept. Now it's time to embrace all the hues and bling jumping off the new Patek Philippe Aquanaut Luce “Rainbow” Chronograph. Plus unlike the majority of the Aquanaut Luce collection which is quartz powered, this is the first model in the ladies’ collection to feature a self-winding chronograph.The octagonal-shaped 39.9mm case is made of 18k rose gold with polished surfaces and brushed case bands. Mounted to the case is a gem-set bezel featuring a double row of baguette-cut diamonds and colored sapphires in a rainbow sequence. In total this watch has 50 baguette diamonds and 52 colored sapphires. The “invisible setting” technique that Patek mentions is related to a metal rails system used to place all the gems in place, without it being seen from the outside perspective.On the flip-side is a sapphire exhibition caseback that allows a view into the inner workings of the mechanical movement. It showcases a 21k gold central rotor adorned with the Maltese cross.It comes equipped with two rectangular push-pieces to activate the chronograph functions with the start/stop pusher at 2 o’clock and the chronograph reset/flyback function at 4 o’clock.In between them is a setting crown embossed with the Calatrava logo. All topped by a sapphire crystal that assists with water-resistance reaching up to 30 meters (98 feet).Time is exhibited on a white mother-of-pearl dial engraved with the checkered Aquanaut pattern. It uses 12 baguette-cut, multicolored sapphires as hour indices, plus gold-applied Arabic numerals, followed by a ring of minutes/seconds markers.There is a large 60-minute counter at the 6 o’clock position with a gold outline, Arabic numerals, index markers, and gold hand. The central 18k rose gold hour/minute hands have some luminescent filling, while the rest of the “shine” naturally emanates from all the precious minerals.

The “Patek Philippe Aquanaut Luce “Rainbow” Chronograph” (Ref#: 7968/300R-001)  is powered by the in-house self-winding mechanical movement, caliber CH 28-520 with 32 jewels, 259 parts, and 28,800 Vph. It features a Gyromax® balance and a Spiromax® balance spring. Power reserve can last up to 55 hours, when fully wound.Mounted on the watch is a red composite material strap, secured by a diamond set patented fold over clasp. It also includes two more straps made of the same material, but colored in matte white and beige.For more up to date information visit the official Patek Philippe website here.
