The Patek Philippe Annual Calendar 4946G-001 continues the manufacture’s exploration of more relaxed and contemporary aesthetics within its complications collection. Since the debut of the annual calendar in 1996, Patek Philippe has refined this practical complication into multiple forms, ranging from traditionally elegant to quietly modern. With its denim-inspired blue-grey dial and casual strap combination, the new 4946G-001 feels less formal than most Calatrava-inspired references, yet still unmistakably Patek Philippe in its execution and restraint.
The fully polished 18k white gold case measures 38mm in diameter and 11.23mm in thickness. Its rounded Calatrava-inspired profile gives the watch a refined and balanced presence, while the compact dimensions maintain strong everyday wearability. Soft curves along the bezel and lugs help reinforce the watch’s understated elegance.
Turning the watch over reveals a sapphire crystal caseback offering a clear view of the self-winding calibre 26-330 S QA LU. The movement displays refined finishing throughout, including Geneva striping, polished bevels, and a 21k gold central rotor. Surrounding the exhibition back, the polished white gold case maintains the smooth and elegant lines that define the reference’s restrained Calatrava-inspired character.
Corrector pushers are integrated discreetly into the caseband for adjustment of the calendar indications and moon phase. Sapphire crystals protect both sides of the watch while maintaining clarity and refinement throughout the design. Water-resistance can reach up to 30 meters (100 feet).
The blue-grey dial immediately sets this reference apart from more classical annual calendars in the collection. Its “shantung” finish combines vertical and horizontal satin brushing, creating a soft textile-like texture reminiscent of silk. 
The color shifts subtly depending on the light, moving between steel blue and grey tones with considerable depth.
For the first time at Patek Philippe, applied Arabic numerals in luminescent material are used as monobloc elements. Their slightly casual appearance works naturally with the denim-inspired concept of the watch. White gold leaf-shaped hands complement the display, while the layout remains symmetrical and easy to read.
The annual calendar indications are arranged cleanly across the dial, with the day and month displayed through subdials positioned between 9–10 and 2–3 o’clock. A date aperture sits at 6 o’clock, with the moon phase display directly above it. 
The satin-brushed texture enhances the dial’s layered appearance, while the luminous numerals and hands add practicality without overwhelming the refined aesthetic.
