Patek Philippe 5370R-001 Split-Seconds Chronograph

Patek Philippe’s latest addition to its Grand Complications lineup at Watches and Wonders 2025 is the new 5370R-001, a refined rose gold version of its revered split-seconds chronograph. This marks the first time the 5370 appears in this precious metal, bringing added warmth and contrast to its design, especially with the introduction of a handcrafted brown Grand Feu enamel dial. Contrasted by beige champlevé enamel subdials and tachymeter scale, the watch combines mechanical sophistication with rare artisanal detailing, further cementing its place as one of the brand’s most coveted chronographs.
Housed in a 41mm case made entirely of 18k rose gold with a height of 13.56mm, its proportions reflect a strong yet refined presence, embodying the grand complication status of the model. The rounded case is enhanced by the brand’s signature blend of polished surfaces and sculpted profiles. Flowing strap lugs gently curve into the wrist, terminating in refined, cambered rose-gold cabochons that replace conventional spring bar tips, an elegant flourish. Turning the watch over, the 5370R-001 comes equipped with an interchangeable caseback system: a sapphire crystal back is fitted by default, offering an uninterrupted view of the exceptional CHR 29-535 PS movement within. Also supplied is a solid platinum back, which can be swapped in for a more understated and traditional look.
It comes equipped with classic rectangular chronograph pushers at 2 and 4 o’clock, while the split-seconds pusher is ingeniously integrated into the crown at 3. This crown-pusher combination contributes to a clean silhouette while delivering full chronograph control. All  topped by a gently domed sapphire crystal that slightly elevates the watch’s classical aesthetic. Water-resistance can reach up to 30 meters (100 feet).
The dial of the Patek Philippe 5370R-001 is a remarkable showcase of the manufacturer's artistry, combining rare craftsmanship with impeccable balance. Crafted from an 18k gold base, it is coated in a rich brown Grand Feu enamel, fired repeatedly at high temperatures to achieve its deep, lustrous hue, an enduring surface that will not fade over time. Contrasting against this background are the beige champlevé enamel subdials and tachymeter scale, each one hollowed directly into the gold plate and filled with enamel by hand, then fired for permanence and clarity.
A sense of symmetry defines the layout. The 30-minute counter sits at 3 o’clock while the small seconds subdial is placed at 9. These are positioned opposite each other in perfect harmony with the central chronograph and split-seconds hands, which are flanked by a prominent outer tachymeter scale. Elegant Breguet numerals in applied rose gold arc gracefully around the dial, paired with leaf-style hour and minute hands filled with luminescent material to ensure legibility even in low light. The design unites tradition and utility in a surprisingly legible and balanced format.Completing the composition is the subtly curved sapphire crystal, which gently enhances the play of light across the enamel surface. Together, these elements result in a rare combination of technical precision and artisanal refinement, precisely the kind of sophisticated contrast that defines Patek Philippe’s most cherished grand complications.
