Panerai Submersible Verde Militare
As society becomes more and more about data and the digital landscape, so does the horology market. We’re not talking about smartwatches per say, the appreciation for mechanical craftsmanship and vintage trends are still quite in vogue. But, we are alluding to e-commerce and the newly released limited edition online exclusive “Panerai Submersible Verde Militare”.
As some may know “verde” means “green” in Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and Romania. Since the Panerai brand is rooted in Italy, we can safely guess that explains their choice of words here. And with this offering they have furthered extended their already wide array of green colored options, which include models such as the recent PAM 995 & 997 that reviewed here or this Radiomir trio you can reacquaint yourself with here, among other available options.
The 42mm case is made out of the proprietary AISI 316L stainless-steel with a brushed finish. Mounted to the case is a unidirectional anti-clockwise rotating bezel with a graduated scale, which is also made of steel with a matching brushed finish.
On the flipside we encounter a solid screwed on case back that has been engraved with Panerai’s iconic diver figure, as well as technical details. They have also stamped it with the “DIVERS PROFESSIONAL” inscription.
It comes equipped with the iconic patented Panerai crown guard and the wide protruding lugs, for a comfortable wrist fit. Water-resistance on this diver appealing watch can reach up to 300 meters (960 feet).
Time is exhibited on a green dial with steel round hour index markers and rectangular round edged hour index markers for the 6 and 12 o’clock positions. There is a sub-seconds at the 9 o’clock position and a date aperture at the 3 o’clock position. Both the hour and minute hands, plus all the hour index markers have undergone a luminescent coating, for an enhanced legibility.
Officine Panerai Submersible Verde Militare
The “Panerai Submersible Verde Militare ” (Ref#: PAM 1055) is powered by the self-winding mechanical movement, caliber P.900 with 23 jewels, 12.5 lignes and 28,800 vph. It is based on Panerai’s OP XXXIV movement and has been previously featured on some of the brands “Due” collection models. Power reserve on this watch can last up to 72 hours, when fully wound.
Mounted to the watch is a green rubber strap that matches the characteristic hue of this “verde” model, while secured to the wrist by a stainless-steel buckle.
