First launched in 2022, the Navy SEALs line serves as a modern expression of Panerai’s longstanding association with military diving instruments, combining rugged specifications with tactical design cues. While the recently unveiled Afniotech Experience Edition focused on exclusivity and exotic materials, the PAM01738 brings the collection’s core attributes to a more accessible, non-limited production model. Featuring enhanced durability, upgraded lume, and a substantial 500-meter depth rating, the latest Navy SEALs edition reinforces the Submersible collection’s reputation as one of Panerai’s most capable professional dive watch platforms.
The Panerai Submersible Navy SEALs PAM01738 is housed in a robust stainless-steel case measuring 44mm in diameter. Following the established architecture of the Submersible family, the case combines strong angular surfaces with Panerai’s iconic crown-protecting bridge, creating a design that remains instantly recognizable. A unidirectional rotating bezel fitted with a matte black ceramic insert provides timing functionality while adding scratch-resistant durability to the overall package.
Turning the watch over reveals a solid screw-down caseback engraved with the official Navy SEALs insignia. Beyond its decorative role, the reinforced construction contributes to the watch’s increased diving capabilities, with a thicker caseback helping elevate water resistance beyond that of standard Submersible models. The military-themed engraving reinforces the tactical character that defines this collection.
Protecting the dial is a domed sapphire crystal designed to withstand the rigours of professional diving environments. Combined with the screw-down crown system and reinforced case construction, the watch undergoes extensive testing that exceeds industry standards, including water-resistance verification at levels 25% beyond its rated depth. Water-resistance can reach up to 500 meters (1,640 feet).
The dial of the PAM01738 adopts the familiar anthracite gradient finish seen across several Navy SEALs references, transitioning from a lighter center to darker outer edges. This subtle fumé effect adds depth while preserving the highly functional nature expected from a professional diving instrument. The dark color palette complements the tactical character of the collection and pairs naturally with the black ceramic bezel.
Legibility remains a key priority throughout the design. Large applied hour markers and bold hands provide excellent contrast against the dial surface, while the date display is discreetly positioned at 3 o’clock. The running seconds display allows divers to quickly verify that the movement is operating correctly during underwater use.
Compared to standard time-and-date Submersible models, the PAM01738 features enlarged hour markers with a diameter approximately 20% wider than previous executions.
These markers are filled with Super-LumiNova X2, providing increased brightness and longer-lasting luminescence in low-light environments. The enhanced lume treatment further reinforces the watch’s professional diving credentials while maintaining excellent readability both above and below the water.

The “Officine Panerai Submersible Navy SEALs” (Ref#: PAM01738) is powered by the in-house self-winding mechanical movement, caliber P.980 with 23 jewels and 28,800 vph. It comes equipped with a transverse balance bridge designed to improve stability and shock resistance, while supporting hours, minutes, small seconds, and date functions. Power reserve can last up to 72 hours, when fully wound.
Mounted on this watch is a black rubber strap secured by a stainless-steel pin buckle. The durable rubber construction reinforces the watch’s professional diving character while providing comfort and flexibility during active use.
Included with the watch is an additional grey canvas strap, allowing owners to switch between a more tactical or sport-oriented appearance. Both straps utilize Panerai’s practical quick-release system, making changes fast and tool-free while enhancing the versatility of the 44mm stainless-steel case.
