Panerai Submersible Forze Speciali

Among other things, Officine Panerai is mostly known for large diameter diving watches (although they have begun to produce smaller options) and their military origin story in Italy. Now these traits have led to a partnership between them and the Italian special forces, known as “Forze Speciali”. These are two limited editions of new versions of the “Panerai Submersible” with a strong military theme and resourceful complications. The 47mm case is made of titanium with DLC coating, while mounted by a unidirectional rotating ceramic bezel with a 60-minute scale. These bezels differ by having either a blue insert with yellow numerals, or a dark green insert with red numerals and letterings. They come equipped with two complications: a flyback function that allows the chronograph to reset and restart with one single press of the pusher at 8 o’clock and the Time to Target countdown, which can indicate the time remaining until reaching a target, then once it is reached, the time is elapsed afterward. The countdown feature is operated by the user pushing the button at 4 o’clock repeatedly to set the central chronograph hand at the intended interval. Then the countdown can begin by pressing the chronograph stop/start button at 10 o’clock. On the flipside these models differ because the PAM01238 is engraved with an “Xperience” inscription, While PAM01239 has an engraving of a Marina Militare frogman. They also include the iconic crown protection with the locking gear lever that secures the setting-crown in place. Water-resistance can reach up to 300 meters (1,000 feet).Time is exhibited on a mainly black dial with circular and rounded rectangle indexes, while circling around the flange is a ring of printed minute markings. There are two sub-dials with a bullseye motif: a chronograph hour counter at 3 o’clock and a small seconds at the 9 o’clock position. The chronograph with the “Time To Target” sequence is indicated by two central hands. The central hour/minute sword-shaped hands, hour indexes, sub-dials and bezel dot, have all been fitted with a luminescent filling for an enhanced legibility.
