The Radiomir Viaggio nel Tempo Experience Set marks a new chapter in Panerai’s Experience program. For the first time, the concept brings together two distinct timepieces within a single limited edition, pairing mechanical storytelling with an immersive Italian journey. “Viaggio nel Tempo,” or “Time Travel,” does not imply futuristic mechanics, but rather a curated return to the brand’s roots from Florence, where Panerai was founded, to the coastal routes and naval heritage that shaped its identity. The result is a set that blends historical reflection, material contrast, and experiential luxury into one cohesive offering, expressed through two 47mm Radiomir models in bronze and Platinumtech, each powered by hand-wound in-house calibres and distinguished by California and sandwich dial executions that echo defining chapters of Panerai’s design language.
Both watches in the set share the imposing 47mm Radiomir case, staying faithful to the brand’s historic military proportions. The PAM01729 is crafted from brushed bronze, a material designed to develop a natural patina over time, reinforcing the watch’s tool-watch identity.
In contrast, the PAM01730 is executed in Panerai’s proprietary Platinumtech alloy, offering enhanced hardness and a luxurious polished finish. The juxtaposition of bronze and platinum subtly mirrors Panerai’s evolution from naval instrument maker to haute horlogerie house.
On the reverse, both references feature sapphire exhibition casebacks that reveal their respective in-house manual movements. The bronze version incorporates a titanium caseback ring to prevent skin contact with oxidising bronze,
while the Platinumtech model retains a more traditional precious-metal execution. The open display highlights the distinct finishing and architecture of each calibre, reinforcing their mechanical differences.
Each watch is equipped with a large fluted crown consistent with the Radiomir profile, designed for ease of manual winding. A domed sapphire crystal protects the dial and enhances the vintage character of the 47mm silhouette. Water-resistance can reach up to 100 meters (328 feet).
The PAM01729 bronze reference features a black grained California dial, combining Roman numerals on the upper half with Arabic numerals below the horizontal axis. This layout, historically associated with military dive watches, enhances orientation and legibility in demanding environments. The textured surface adds depth while preserving the rugged, utilitarian tone.
The PAM01730 Platinumtech model adopts the classic Panerai sandwich dial construction. Its black circular sun-brushed base sits beneath a cut-out upper layer, allowing luminous material to shine through the numerals and markers. The tone-on-tone inscriptions maintain visual cohesion while reinforcing the understated elegance of the platinum case.
Both dials emphasise clarity and historical continuity. The California layout delivers graphic contrast, while the sandwich construction provides architectural depth. Lume is integrated into the cut-out markers and hands, ensuring optimal visibility in low-light conditions without disrupting the vintage aesthetic.
