Panerai Radiomir Bronzo

We’ve seen several Panerai Submersible models made out of bronze, but this PAM00760 is the first Radiomir to ever be crafted out of this charismatic patina gaining alloy. It was originally unveiled at a private VIP gathering, in Geneva, during Watches & Wonders. Panerai intends to release several new Radiomir options in 2023, but until then lets marvel at this new vintage inspired, instant modern classic. The cushion-shaped 47 mm case is made of bronze with an overall radiall brushed finish. Panerai has used the same bronze alloy they tend to use on their Submersible models, which is primarily composed of copper with a small mix of tin. Mounted to the case is a bronze bezel that follows the same aesthetics, seamlessly blending in with the case and providing a cohesive design. On the flip-side is a sapphire exhibition caseback that allows a view into the inner workings of the mechanical movement. The alloy portion is made of titanium because prolonged contact with bronze can provoke an allergic reaction. It features the iconic thin wire-style lugs, often seen on the Radiomir model and comes equipped with a knurled setting-crown, also made of bronze and embossed with the “OP” logo.
All topped by a domed crystal made of PlexiGlass, which means this plastic based cover is not scratch-resistant. But, despite some shortcomings the use of PlexiGlass does add an authentic vintage vibe. Water-resistance can reach up to 100 meters (330 feet).Time is exhibited on the iconic Panerai sandwich dial in green with the hour index markers and the Arabic numerals: 3, 6, 9 and 12. All these indicators are in an ecru hue that gives off that faux-vintage lume. But, the true novelty on this dial comes in the form of its textured surface, although it's not a complete first for Panerai. The graduated green hue starts off with a brighter center, and then darkens as it moves towards the dials periphery. Given the vintage aesthetics the brand intended for this particular model, these were all wise choices to achieve that aged look. The blued central hour/minutes hands, hour index markers and Arabic numerals have all been fitted with a green luminescent hue, for an enhanced legibility. The divided hour hand is also a nice, subtle, vintage detail usually only seen on historic Radiomir models.
