Panerai Radiomir 8 Giorni PAM02088

Panerai Radiomir 8 Giorni PAM02088

To mark the upcoming Lunar New Year of the Horse, Panerai introduces a new limited‑edition model within its Radiomir collection. The Radiomir 8 Giorni PAM02088 blends the house’s historical California‑dial heritage with cultural cues through Chinese character numerals, presenting a subtle yet distinctive variant. Limited to 300 pieces worldwide, this release offers collectors a lineage‑based design with a nuanced, festive twist. The Radiomir PAM02088 features a 45mm case crafted in Brunito-finished steel, evoking a weathered and utilitarian character reminiscent of military instruments. Measuring approximately 14mm thick and fitted with wire-style lugs, the case is modeled after the historical Ref. 3646 worn by Italian Navy frogmen during the 1940s. The large, polished bezel frames the domed sapphire crystal, which subtly distorts the dial edges to vintage effect.Around the back, a screw-down sapphire crystal caseback provides a clear view of the manually wound P.5000 movement. While the caliber lacks decorative finishing, its no-nonsense construction emphasizes function over flourish, a fitting match for the case’s rugged aesthetic.
The conical steel crown is unsigned and non-locking, maintaining historical accuracy while providing ease of winding. All topped by a domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating. Water-resistance can reach up to 100 meters (328 feet). The dial features a subtle black-to-anthracite gradient, darkening toward the edges to emphasize the classic California layout. Roman numerals occupy the upper half (10, 11, 1, and 2), while Chinese characters replace the usual Arabic numerals at 4, 5, 7, and 8—an intentional nod to the Lunar New Year and its regional symbolism. This reconfiguration preserves the layout’s symmetry while introducing a culturally specific twist. The central hour and minute hands are crafted from burnished metallic blue steel, created through a controlled oxidation process. Their tone changes subtly with the light, offering contrast without overwhelming the dial’s gradient finish. The small seconds sub-dial at 9 o’clock and linear date display at 6 o’clock maintain balance within the composition. All markers and hands are treated with beige Super-LumiNova® X1, ensuring nighttime readability. This material glows in a soft green hue and reinforces the watch’s functional appeal while blending discreetly with the overall palette.

Panerai Radiomir 8 Giorni PAM02088

The “Officine Panerai Radiomir 8 Giorni” (Ref#: PAM02088) is powered by the in-house self-winding mechanical movement, caliber P.5000 with 21 jewels and 21,600 vph. It comes equipped with two mainspring barrels and features a full bridge design for added durability. Power reserve can last up to 192 hours (8 days), when fully wound.
Mounted on this watch is a brown calf leather strap with tone-on-tone stitching, secured by a trapezoidal Brunito-finished steel pin buckle. It complements the aged aesthetic of the case while offering comfortable wear despite the watch’s large proportions. The Panerai Radiomir PAM02088 is a limited edition of 300 numbered pieces worldwide. While tailored toward collectors in East Asia, it remains available via selected Panerai boutiques globally.
