Officine Panerai Luminor Marina Carbotech™
As Panerai celebrates the 70th anniversary of Luminor and relaunch the “Luminor Marina” collection, they’ve also brought back one of their more innovating ingredients. Let’s take a look at the new “Panerai Luminor Marina Carbotech™”.
This is not the first time the brand has used this unique exclusive material made of sheets of a substance called PEEK (Polyether Ether Ketone). It did so before on the “Luminor Submersible 1950 Carbotech” (Ref#: PAM 616) and also on their “Lab-ID Luminor 1950 Carbotech 3 Days” (Ref#: PAM 700).
The 44mm case is made of carbotech which is a material produced via a technique based on the integration of carbon fiber elements with polymer parts known as “polyether ether ketone”, which are all put under a specific temperature and pressure to obtain this end result.
The structure friendly design and hypoallergenic qualities of the carbotech case are very comfortable, due to its lighter weight materials, compared to current ceramic and titanium casings.
In this latest release Panerai has crafted the PAM01661 with their standard crown, iconic crown guard and a solid case back. Unlike the “Lab-iD” that featured an exhibition case back; this solid case model has more than doubled its water-resistance now capable of reaching up to 300m (984 feet).
Time is exhibited on a black sandwich dial with hour index markers and Arabic numerals for the 6, 9 and 12 o’clock positions.
The hands and all hour markers have undergone a blue luminescent coating, for an enhanced legibility. There is also a date aperture aligned at 3 o’clock.
Officine Panerai Luminor Marina Carbotech™
The “Officine Panerai Luminor Marina Carbotech™” (Ref#: PAM01661) is powered by the in-house self-winding mechanical movement, caliber P.9010 with 31 jewels, 13¾ lignes, 200 components and 28,800 vph. It comes equipped with a Glucydur® balance and Incabloc® anti-shock device. Power reserve on this watch can last up to 72 hours (3 days), when fully wound.
Mounted to the watch is a Panerai Sportech™ black strap with exposed blue stitching, while secured to the wrist by a carbotech™ buckle. For more up to date information visit the official Officine Panerai website here.
