Once again the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team set its sails for adventure and glory, while Officine Panerai marked the occasion with a new limited-edition chronograph. Robust craftsmanship, fine Italian aesthetics and the Luna Rossa color scheme have led to a timepiece capable of enduring the sea and casting alluring looks on land.The 44mm case of made by Panerai’s preferential AISI 316L brushed steel with a solid case back, while mounted to the case is a contrasting polished steel bezel.It stands apart from traditional chronographs by placing the start, stop and reset pushers on the left-side. Thus making it more user-friendly for those engaged in nautical competitions or aquatic getaways.It also feature the iconic Panerai winding crown protected by the classic bridge lever device patented by the brand in the 1950’s. All topped by a sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating, which assists with water-resistance on this watch reaching up to 100 meters (330 feet). Time is exhibited on Panerai’s iconic sandwich dial in a vibrant sun-brushed blue hue with hour index markers and the Arabic numerals 6 and 12; followed by a ring of smaller white printed minute index markers, with slightly bigger markings for each 5-minute increment. The periphery also includes a tachymeter scale circling the circumference of the dial.There are two sub-dials: a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock and a sub-seconds at the 9 o’clock position. The tip of the central chronograph hand and 30-minute counter sub-hand have been colored red to add a dash of color that neatly ties back with the Luna Rossa teams official theme. The central sword-shaped hands, sub-dial hands, hour index markers and Arabic numerals have been fitted with a luminescent coating, for an enhanced legibility. In essence its the same standard dial seen before in previous Panerai collections, including the recent Chrono's also unveiled at Watches & Wonders 2021.
Officine Panerai Luminor Chrono Luna Rossa
The “Officine Panerai Luminor Chrono Luna Rossa” (Ref#: PAM01303) is powered by the new in-house self-winding mechanical movement caliber P.9200 with 17 jewels, 13 1/4 lignes and 28,800 Vph. It comes equipped with a Glucydur® balance and Incabloc® anti-shock device. Power reserve can last up to 42 hours, when fully wound.Mounted to the watch is a dark blue Panerai Sportech™ strap, which is made up of a bi-material with a rubber structure and a technical waterproof material on the surface. This hybrid solution makes it an ideal option for water sports. It also comes with a similar extra strap in white, plus a tool to allow interchangeability of the straps and a screwdriver for removing the buckle.
