There's something fitting about pairing an aviation watch with a material that ages the way bronze does, each mark and shift in patina echoing the wear and history that pilot's watches were originally built to withstand. Oris leans into that idea with the ProPilot Bronze, the first variation to emerge from last year's redesign of the ProPilot Date, which introduced a cleaner case and more contemporary proportions to the collection's aviation roots. Rather than simply swapping materials, the bronze case invites a more personal relationship with the watch, one where individuality develops naturally over time rather than being fixed at the point of purchase.

The case measures 41mm in diameter, 11.7mm thick, and 49mm from lug to lug, retaining the dimensions of the current steel model while being entirely crafted in bronze, save for the caseback. A turbine-inspired fluted bezel frames the case, adding mechanical texture to the silhouette, while over time the bronze will naturally develop a patina, ensuring each watch gradually takes on its own individual appearance and presence on the wrist.

The caseback is executed in screwed stainless-steel rather than bronze, fitted with a see-through mineral glass that reveals the movement within, including its Oris-red rotor. No specific engravings, edition numbering, or commemorative markings are noted for this reference, as the ProPilot Bronze is part of the permanent collection rather than a limited release.

The watch is fitted with an oversized, grippy screw-in crown in bronze, based on a historic 1938 Oris pilot's watch, lending both function and heritage to the design.

Above the dial sits a domed sapphire crystal with internal anti-reflective coating, ensuring clarity and legibility under varying light conditions. Water-resistance can reach up to 100 meters (328 feet).

The dial is finished in black, offering high contrast and legibility in the aviation-watch tradition, with a layout that preserves the symmetry introduced in the latest ProPilot Date generation. The date window is positioned at 6 o'clock, maintaining the balanced, centered structure across the dial face.

Applied Arabic numerals mark the hours, contributing to the watch's clean, instrument-like readability, while the hands follow the collection's familiar aviation-inspired shapes. The overall composition remains uncluttered, allowing the numerals and hands to anchor the dial without competing for visual attention.

The matte black finish of the dial minimizes glare and reflection, reinforcing the instrument-like clarity the ProPilot line is known for, while the applied numerals sit slightly proud of the dial surface, creating a subtle three-dimensional depth that catches the light differently depending on the angle. This interplay of matte backdrop and raised, luminous elements gives the dial a quiet technicality, functional first, but with enough tactile detail to reward a closer look. Super-LumiNova is applied generously to both the hands and the indices, ensuring strong low-light legibility consistent with the watch's tool-watch heritage.
Oris ProPilot Bronze
The “Oris ProPilot Bronze” (Ref: 01 733 7805 3164-07 6 20 22BRLC) is powered by the base self-winding mechanical movement, caliber 733, built on a Sellita SW200 foundation, with 28,800 vph. It comes equipped with hours, minutes, seconds, an instantaneous date function, and a stop-seconds mechanism, and is fitted with an Oris-red rotor visible through the display caseback. Power reserve can last up to 41 hours, when fully wound.

Mounted on this watch is a dark green suede leather strap, closed with a folding bronze 'LIFT' clasp inspired by aircraft seatbelt mechanisms, offering seamless adjustment for a secure, tailored fit.
The strap's earthy green tone complements the warmth of the bronze case and the black dial, while the combination of soft suede and the weight of bronze gives the watch a distinctive, well-worn character on the wrist that will only deepen as the case patinas over time.

MSRP: $2,750.00 USD
