Rather than radically reimagining its heritage diver, Oris continues to refine and evolve the popular Divers Sixty-Five line with thoughtful tweaks and charming new colors. This latest edition introduces a 40mm chronograph in an elegant Ocean Green colorway, blending the laid-back appeal of vintage skin divers with the function of a modern chronograph. The Ocean Green bezel and twin sub-dials stand out against the sunray silver-grey background, lending this timepiece a fresh yet timeless feel.
The stainless steel case measures 40mm in diameter, with a thickness of 15.4mm and a lug-to-lug span of 48mm. Its finishing alternates between polished and brushed surfaces, evoking a refined yet robust character. The design is completed by a unidirectional rotating bezel with a dark green aluminium insert and a 60-minute scale, enhancing both style and function.
Around the back, the watch is fitted with a screwed stainless steel caseback, which is solid and unadorned. This classic caseback choice preserves the vintage spirit of the Divers Sixty-Five line and contributes to the overall durability of the piece.
On the flanks, vintage-inspired pump-style pushers flank a screw-down fluted crown to support water immersion. A domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on the underside protects the dial. Water-resistance can reach up to 100 meters (330 feet).
The dial presents a refined sunray silver-grey finish that lends depth and a soft gradient effect under varying light conditions. Framing this elegant backdrop are applied hour markers and the signature shield-shaped index at 12 o’clock, both contributing to a clean, balanced composition that echoes mid-century design cues.
A pair of dark green sub-dials enhances the bi-compax layout, with small seconds positioned at 9 o’clock and a 30-minute chronograph counter at 3 o’clock. This contrast creates visual tension without overpowering the aesthetic, while the polished hands and markers provide a crisp, high-end feel.
A subtle peripheral minute track ensures legibility without clutter, and the absence of a date window maintains the symmetry of the vintage-inspired design. For low-light conditions, the hands and applied indices are filled with Super-LumiNova, delivering reliable visibility while complementing the watch’s retro-modern character.
Oris Divers Sixty-Five Chronograph Ocean Green
The “Oris Divers Sixty-Five Chronograph Ocean Green” (References below) is powered by the self-winding mechanical movement, caliber 771 with 27 jewels and 28,800 Vph. It is based on the Sellita SW510 movement, which appears here in its reduced version without a date display or a 12-hour chronograph counter. Power reserve can last up to 48 hours, when fully wound.
Mounted on this watch is a sustainably sourced black Cervo Volante deer leather strap, secured by a stainless steel pin buckle. It evokes the retro character of vintage divers while enhancing the refined presence of the polished and brushed steel case.
Alternatively, it is also available with a stainless steel bracelet fitted with a folding clasp for a sportier aesthetic.
