Oris Divers Hölstein 2024 Edition
Oris celebrates its birthday each year with special Hölstein Editions, named after the Swiss town where the brand was established on June 1, 1904. These editions are typically modified versions of existing models. For its 120th anniversary, Oris has released a special all-black version of its Divers Sixty-Five, marking the brand's first full black-on-black watch. This Oris Hölstein Edition 2024 features the in-house calibre 400, known for its five-day power reserve and strong resistance to magnetism. The 40mm case with a thickness of 13.25mm is made of DLC-coated stainless steel, giving it a completely blacked-out finish. This innovative material not only enhances the watch’s durability but also provides a sleek and modern aesthetic. The black finish on the exterior is achieved using a Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) coating, known for its hardness and resistance to scratching. The watch’s minimalist yet striking design is completed by a domed sapphire crystal above its dial, ensuring both clarity and protection against scratches. On the flipside is a solid screw-down caseback that features a unique engraving of the Oris Bear wearing sunglasses and floral swim trunks, commemorating the brand’s 120th anniversary. Each watch is individually numbered out of 250 total examples, adding to its exclusivity. The caseback also contributes to the overall robustness of the watch, providing a secure seal that protects the movement inside. Unlike the existing 40mm Divers Sixty-Five Cal. 400 models with 12-hour bezels, the Oris Hölstein Edition 2024 is equipped with a 60-minute timing scale on the bezel, with its markings in relief, also given a black DLC coating to match the rest of the case. This design ensures that the watch maintains its sleek, monochromatic appearance while offering practical functionality for divers. It comes equipped with a screw-in setting crown and two push-pieces to set that thin central hand in action over the various complications. While the Hölstein Edition 2024 case may appear sizable on paper, its actual size is moderated by the short lugs, resulting in a more balanced and wearable design in reality. All topped by a domed sapphire crystal. Water-resistance can reach up to 100 meters (328 feet).Time is exhibited on an all-black dial, maintaining the sleek, monochromatic theme of the watch. The dial features black hands, black Super-LumiNova for the hour markers, and black surrounds for the markers, ensuring visibility in low-light conditions while keeping the aesthetic consistent. The black text on the dial complements the overall design, creating a unified and stealthy appearance. It features three sub-dials: a 60-minute counter, a 12-hour counter, and a small seconds sub-dial, each with black numerals and indexes. The printing on the date disc appears in a dark shade of gray for visibility purposes, providing a subtle contrast that ensures the date remains readable without disrupting the all-black theme. The sub-dials’ radial format for the numerals and indexes adds a touch of sophistication, while the hands and markers, coated in black Super-LumiNova, ensure legibility in all lighting conditions. In keeping with the design ethos of the Oris Divers Sixty-Five collection, the dial features a domed sapphire crystal that enhances its vintage-inspired look while providing durability and scratch resistance. The absence of any color other than black on the dial, hands, and markers underscores the watch’s unique, blacked-out aesthetic, making it a standout piece in the Oris Hölstein Edition series.
