Pilot watches tend to mostly have military themes and be characterized by functionality that could prove worthwhile in rugged terrain. But, for this latest pair of limited editions, Oris has opted to celebrate pilots that work for Wings of Hope, which is an international humanitarian organization that provides airlifted medical support to people in the world’s poorest and remotest communities. This watch can be had in a 38mm case made of 18k yellow gold or a 40mm case made of stainless-steel, both with vertically brushed surfaces and sides, while mounted by a bezel with a mirror-like polished finish. On the flip-side is a sapphire exhibition caseback that allows a view into the inner workings of the mechanical movement. It showcases several jewels and includes an oscillating weight decorated with an Oris medallion. It comes equipped with a screw-in security crown with a knurled circumference, intended to help pilot’s be able to easily adjust the time without having to take off their gloves. All topped by a domed sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective treatment. Water-resistance can reach up to 50 meters (164 feet).Time is exhibited on an off-white dial with Arabic numerals, followed by a white railroad motif minute index grid with two-digit numerals for every 5-minute increment. These dials differ from each other by the gold option having golden colored numerals, while the steel model has green hued numerals. The central sword-style hands and Arabic numerals have all undergone a luminescent coating, for an enhanced legibility. There is also a small seconds sub-dial with a red hand, which eliminates a numeral at the 6 o’clock position.
