Oris Big Crown Propilot Okavango Air Rescue
Once again the Swiss watch brand Oris is bringing awareness and supporting a noble cause by releasing a limited edition that will donate a percentage of its sales. The new “Oris Big Crown Propilot Okavango Air Rescue” features a unique dial and aims to celebrate a decade of the Okavango Air Rescue (O.A.R) commitment to bringing medical resources to the Okavango Delta. The 41mm multi-piece case is made of stainless-steel with a brushed finish. Mounted to the case is a fixed fluted stainless-steel bezel, knurled with diagonal etchings. On the flip-side is a steel caseback that features an engraving of O.A.R’s Pilatus PC-12 aircraft flying over the delta. A portion of the proceeds gathered from this limited edition timepiece will go towards supporting O.A.R’s operating expenses. A worthy cause that provides life-saving aid to the Delta’s isolated communities, many times while waiving any costs. It comes equipped with a screw-in crown and thick lugs for a secure wrist fit. All topped by a sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating. Water-resistance on this watch can reach up to 100 meters (330 feet).Time is exhibited on a green textured dial with applied and raised Arabic numerals, followed by a ring of minute indexes with larger markers for each 5-minute increment. The gradient shades that permeate this dial seem similar to a fumé pattern. A very unique look that was created specifically for this watch. This green dial is inspired by the grasses of the Okavango Delta, a vast inland river delta in northern Botswana. It’s known for its sprawling grassy plains, which flood seasonally, becoming a lush animal habitat. In 2014 the Okavango Delta was officially inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The central hands, Arabic numerals and hourly index markers have all undergone a luminescent coating, for an enhanced legibility. There is also a date aperture at the 3 o’clock position.
