Oris has expanded its Aquis line with the release of the Aquis Pro 1000M, a robust and functional diver’s tool engineered for extreme conditions. Designed in collaboration with professional divers, this new model introduces a unique combination of lightweight titanium construction, extreme depth capability, and a patented Rotation Safety System (RSS) that prevents accidental bezel movement underwater. Rated for 1,000 meters of water resistance and equipped with a gradient wave-pattern dial, the Aquis Pro 1000M affirms Oris’ commitment to real-world utility and engineering.
The Aquis Pro 1000M is housed in a 49.5mm titanium case coated in grey PVD, balancing its large dimensions with a lightweight feel on the wrist. The muscular silhouette features short lugs for improved wearability, while the uni-directional ceramic bezel is enhanced by Oris’ patented Rotation Safety System (RSS), a locking mechanism that prevents accidental shifts once the dive time is set. The imposing build is all business, ready to tackle saturation diving or recreational depths with ease.
The caseback is secured by screws and engraved with a feet-to-meter conversion scale, which is a practical detail for divers calculating decompression stops or working across unit systems. The watch’s 16.6mm thickness is justified by its exceptional 100-bar pressure resistance, as well as the robust engineering behind the crystal and seals.
On the right side, a screw-down crown is nestled between two angular guards for added protection against impact or rotation. The front is fitted with a domed sapphire crystal treated with internal anti-reflective coating to ensure visibility even in murky conditions. Water-resistance can reach up to 1,000 meters (3,300 feet), meeting the rigorous demands of deep-sea professionals.
The dial features a rich blue gradient that darkens toward the edge, evoking the visual experience of descending into open water. A dynamic wave pattern ripples across the surface, further reinforcing the aquatic theme while offering texture and depth. The legibility is excellent, with ample spacing between elements and a high-contrast color palette.
Large applied indices and broad arrow-style hands are filled with white Super-LumiNova, glowing green for the hour hand and indices, and blue for the minute hand and bezel triangle, a key distinction for elapsed dive timing. The central seconds hand features a luminous lollipop tip for low-light visibility.
Other functional details include a date window positioned unobtrusively at 6 o’clock and a clearly printed minute track. The overall aesthetic remains tool-like and focused while maintaining the refined visual identity of the Aquis line.
Oris Aquis Pro 1000M
The “Oris Aquis Pro 1000M” (Ref#: 01 733 7801 7255-Set) is powered by the Oris 733, a self-winding mechanical movement based on the Sellita SW 200-1 with 26 jewels and a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz). It includes a stop-seconds mechanism for precise time setting, an instantaneous date change, and a ball-bearing rotor. Power reserve is rated at approximately 41 hours when fully wound.
Mounted on this watch is a blue rubber strap secured by a grey-PVD-coated titanium folding clasp with a tool-free quick-adjustment and extension system. It offers a tailored fit over a wetsuit or directly on the wrist, with added convenience for daily wear.
The watch is also delivered with an additional black rubber strap and a strap-change tool, offering modular flexibility for owners. Despite the watch’s size, the titanium construction and ergonomic lugs make it surprisingly wearable for a professional diver.
