Oris Aquis Date on Rubber
Talk about deja vu, this release seems like it already happened, but in fact this is a sort of double triple release. Last summer during the “Geneva Watch Days” Oris had a triple launch of their smaller “Oris Aquis Date” model. Now this diver watch returns with the same trio of mother-of-pearl dials, but all on near matching rubber straps, instead of steel bracelets. The 36.5mm multi-piece case is made of stainless-steel with brushed casebands and polished accents. Mounted to the case is a unidirectional rotating bezel with stainless-steel insert. It has been engraved with a 60-minute diving scale in relief to assist divers with immersion times; although it can be easily used for other practical countdowns. On the flip-side instead of the more standard solid steel caseback, these come with a exhibition that a view into the inner workings of the mechanical movement, Despite this difference these models where still able to retain the same waster-resistance to keep with diver standard depths for real world scenarios. It comes equipped with a stainless-steel screw-in crown that is protected by crown guards with exposed screws. Topped by a double domed sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating. Water-resistance can reach up to 300 meters (984 feet). Time is exhibited on either a blue, green or pink mother-of-pearl dial with stainless-steel applied hour index markers, followed by a ring of smaller white printed minute index markers circling around its periphery. Due to the natural opalescence found in the mother-of-pearl material, as light reflects on it we can see various shifts in hue throughout the dial. These dials are nearly identical to the trio released with steel bracelet options. But, we first noted this style when the limited edition “Oris Aquis Date New York Harbor” was put out.The thick uneven central stainless-steel hands, the hour index markers and the circle found on the lollipop-style seconds hand, have all been fitted with a luminescent coating for an enhanced legibility. There is also a white date window located at the 6 o’clock position.
Oris Aquis Date
The “Oris Aquis Date” (References below) is powered by the in-house self-winding mechanical movement, caliber 733 with 26 jewels, and 28,800 vph. Power reserve on this watch can last up to 38 hours, when fully wound.
Mounted to the watch are rubber straps with matching colors to synch up with each dial hue, while secured to the wrist by a stainless-steel folding clasp. For more up to date information visit the official Oris website here.
